November

IMG_7933

November started with a pang: I´ve attended two conferences already, I´ve got a lot to do at work and our social arena has been stuffed with birthdays, gatherings and such. And it´s only a matter of time before all those Christmas party invitations start rolling in. At the same time, my body responds later and later, it´s getting dark early and light- late and I´d sleep most of my days off, if only I could. 😉 😦

Urban Sunday

IMG_7876It took me many years to stop sighing for a bigger, more exciting city, like Paris, London and Berlin, and instead enjoy the cosy little Oslo we have. 😉 Yes, it´s a bit provincial, no, there aren´t as many good eateries or things to do as in a metropole, but you can get to the sea and the woods in 15 minutes, we have fresh air and pretty great neighbours (we’ve lived four places and definitely prefer the “rougher” East side, people are so much nicer!).

Pinterest Friday

I wish you a Pinterest Friday- glossy and perfect! 😉

I´m been a bit under the weather the last couple of days, my throat is soar and I´ve had a couple of shitty days at work on account of my state- yesterday I made some mistakes and today I forgot an appointment. 😦 Oops! But then again, I didn´t kill anyone, I don´t know how doctors and nurses can live with themselves when that happens, ´cause I´m a mess already from that! I guess they must have bad days, too. :-/ (And I can´t just stay at home either, ´cause nobody pays me if I´m sick.)

Conference, dog-sitting and such

_MG_7824

How are you? I´ve had a productive start on this week, attended a two-days conference on HIV and made a new friend, too. (And a stalker, for that matter.) A couple of colleagues interpreted into English and so I spent both days listening to them and felt my chest raise with pride! Wow, the things we can do, it´s amazing! I won´t pretend to be at the same level as they are, I´m relatively new at this job and irrespective of my endeavour to be noticed, there aren´t as many conferences in Romanian! 😉 Not in Norway, at least. 😉 Continue reading

Halloween and Flea Market Saturday

IMG_7791We had a great day yesterday serving waffles and coffee to friends and their children, playing spooky with Sam and his little disciples, as well as looking for Beo (the cat), who´d gone into hiding from all that clamour. We sold quite a few things and are holding our breath hoping that more people will knock on our day today, too. 😉

A couple of words mid-week

How are you all doing? My week has been crazy busy, but hectic is good, so I´m not yet complaining. I just felt like emptying a bottle of Prosecco on my own today, so when a friend asked if I wanted to join her for Unplugged at The Thief, I immediately said yes for fear of turning into Sue Ellen a couple of decades too soon. 😉

I´m looking forward to the weekend, we´re hosting a flea market on Saturday, hoping to get rid of a few things and use the opportunity to get together over coffee and waffles. 😉 So if you´re in Oslo, do stop by! In the evening we´re invited to a Halloween party and agonising about our disguise as usually. Bought some pumpkin, though, might just surprise the host with an all American pumpkin pie if I get the time. 😉

Walnuts and donuts

IMG_7771This weekend we had fabulous weather and so we took Sammy to the woods both days. The forrest is so pretty in its autumn attire, it looks like a queen all dolled-up for a party. Lots of pictures on my Romanian blog, if you want to take a look!

Yesterday I invited a couple of friends over for what seems to be growing into a tradition- Sunday coffee and cake at the Trans. 😉 I had big plans for this weekend´s treat, given that I ´d already made a huge lasagna form (and resisted the urge to share with our next-door neighbours, so we´ve been eating that for lunch and dinner since Friday!), I only needed to make something sweet and it could be elaborate, too. Easier said than done, because after some hours in the woods, with a clear head, but heavy feet, baking is the last thing you feel like doing. :-/

Shopping in Copenhagen

Shopping in Copenhagen is definitely more fun than in Oslo! I had a tight budget this time, but that didn´t stop me from scoring a few scoops nonetheless! 😉 It´s tight budgets that set creativity loose, right?

I loved this place- Studio Travel Vintage, which I stumbled upon in the heart of Copenhagen, in a desperate attempt to locate last year´s gem, that had unfortunately closed its doors in the meantime. I´m sucker for high-end vintage, minimalist presentation and good service and this place had all of the above! I´d rather pay twice as much as in a regular store if somebody does the selection beforehand, so I don´t have to spend hours hunting for treasures. The choice was easy here, they had many cashmere sweaters and I found a lovely V-neck one in black, that will probably be a favourite for years and years.  IMG_7606 Continue reading

Last day in CPH

IMG_7594We´re home again after a grand weekend away from dog walks and cat poo, from fussing over dinner and going to work at all hours of the day. It´s been so good- sleeping late, eating out, having drinks with friends and discovering the neighbourhood. We´ve mainly kept to Vesterbro, with the exception of yesterday, when we walked all the way to Nyhavn, the canal downtown. The funniest part was when we realised Dyrehaven was just around the corner from our place and we´d walked for at least 20 minutes, round and round the block. Haha!
