Hi, how are you all? I´ve been down with the flu for the the better part of last week and it´s been horrendous. And as if being inactive wasn´t a bore in itself, laying in bed for so many days in a row threw out my back, too! Every inch of my body hurt, I could barely breathe and I either froze or had hot flashes, in fact I had to change the sheets so many times I didn´t have anything to put on the bed in the end!;-)

Getting by
Hi, how are y’all? Thank you for hanging in there with me, I´ve been pretty emotional on the blog lately, haven´t I? I can´t wait for the day when I´ll feel up to writing about pretty dresses and pretty shoes again, I tell ya! I´m not there yet, though. 😉 It´s still a bumpy road here, although most days are good now and not the other way around.
Freelance bliss
Besides being a walking tornado, I´ve either been too busy traveling or working, or I´ve had too much time on my hands, which, funnily enough has the same outcome: I don´t get to do shit around the house and I´m still behind with most things, including laundry and billing. Not to mention grieving and getting on top of things. But hey, what are the 30s for, besides figuring out your place in the world? haha! 😉 (I´m in a glorious mood today, watch out!)
Tuesday
Morning! The cold has softened and it´s easier to be outside without feeling that you´re losing your nose. Also there´s no wind, so my eyes stopped watering, which is such a relief, ´cause I was walking around with frozen eyelashes all the time. 😉
The Passing into the New Year
This New Year´s Eve was my personal low as far as I can remember and yet it turned out pretty cosy in the end. After a tearful day with lots of Amy Winehouse “Love is a Losing Game” and the feeling that 2016 would never come and I´d die the loneliest person on the planet, after drinking Prosecco as soon as I got home (13:30) and wailing in the bedroom for a couple of hours, I decided I should take a shower, put on my face, bake a cake and take a cab to my cousin´s, ´cause by that time Sam was already terrified by fireworks and I barely managed to drag him after me 10 feet.

New Year´s Eve
I´ve been good for some days now, keeping busy with work, friends and Sam, going to the movies- 3 films in one week!- and so on. But with New Year lurking around the corner, I hit rock bottom all over again.
I remember a couple of bad New Year´s Eves way back, when I was young, like buying a dress (cause that´s what I used to do every year) and then not knowing where I´d wear it. haha! But I always ended up getting invited to some gig, so I got to wear my dress. You don´t get to laugh at that, I´m dead serious when it comes to dresses! 😉 haha!

Xmas Eve and Xmas Brunch
Christmas in Norway is entirely destined to family. Whereas in Romania you´re expected to be at home during the day, but can choose go out for a drink with friends in the evening, in Norway, most places are closed and the city turns into a ghost town. It´s literally like in Oliver Twist, you can walk around peeping inside people´s apartments and see them dining and feasting and you´ll feel like the loneliest person alive.

A candle-lit get-together

Yesterday we invited some friends over for a cosy dinner, to laugh away a dark November Sunday. I made boeuf bourguignon and served it with with red wine, French baguette and butter, in my grandma´s china. Now that´s big for me, since I normally can´t even remember to buy napkins, so everybody´s used to gifting me that every once in a while, or else I present them for a big fat roll of toilet paper. 😉 So there was a festive atmosphere, candle light, “magic bubble water” (we finally got ourselves one of these bubbly water machines), wine and beef stew. Throw in a couple of loud friends, a lovable crew the lot of them, Sam at our feet and Beo stealing our seat as soon as it was left unattended for 5 seconds, and you´ve got the perfect recipe for a long night with lots of fun!
Saturday thoughts
This week has been a good one, both professionally and weather-wise. Sommer returned for a couple of days and brought a smile upon everybody´s face and a strong desire to live. We went to the Botanical Garden, had lunch and coffee breaks outdoors and a picnic in the park. Unfortunately V was stuck by a needle, so we ended up at the Emergency Room yesterday evening, to take a blood test. I tried to comfort him while he had a rant about drug addicts and how they ruin a perfectly good park where lots of children play all the time. The rest is not suitable for a public blog. We were advised not to dramatise the situation, since only an infinitesimal amount of people end up being infected. But it´s a horrible situation to be in none the less.

Tourist for a weekend
Missed me yet? 😉 I have a good excuse for staying away: mom and auntie visited for 5 days last week, so I was busy busy. Between work, sightseeing and eating out, I had no time left on my hands, not even to draw my breath, let alone blog. 😉 But let me tell you about the fun we had together!
On Thursday the weather was frightful and I had to work (I was actually a bit glad I didn´t have to pretend not minding the rain!), so they did some sightseeing on their own and came home wet and cold. In the evening my mom felt unwell (she was tired and had eaten some mussel soup that didn´t agree with her), so I took auntie and Sam out for a walk to the Opera house and we enjoyed the stormy sky with a glass of champagne in our hand.
