November Weekend

It’s grey, rainy and dark these day, but it’s the last week of November and Christmas is around the corner. And thank God for it! I totally get why people try to escape to warmer places this time of the year and although I was just home for a week in the beginning of October and we’re going to Marrakech just after Christmas, I’d roam the country in a second, if I could.

My Party

I’m going to Bergen for four days and I can’t wait. Actually I wish I could stay home in my pjs and make the same amount of money, but since that doesn’t happen to us, mortals, I can’t wait. 😉

On Saturday I hosted a lovely party and I had such a good time I will now be able to work without recess until Easter. 😉 haha! I did wear a cute dress and high heels, but somehow I completely forgot to take pictures and the ones we took in the beginning made me look like a witch, so no go. 😉_MG_0017(older picture) Continue reading

Christmas 2016

Christmas is a difficult time for many people, myself included. All this focus on family, the being on your best behaviour and the “look how successfully we’re wrapping up the year” makes me feel pretty exhausted. I feel much closer to many of my friends than to some of my blood relatives. As for the in laws, I’ve never been a mother-in-law’s dream, God knows why, and this time is no different. haha!_mg_9892 Continue reading

Summer in September

I keep reading this September has the highest temperature recorded in over 100 years and while I´m concerned about our planet´s future, I couldn´t be happier for a prolonged summer. I can put on some shorts and a t-shirt and take Sammy out for an evening beer in the neighbourhood. 😉 14303698_10154332113296480_1982452820_o Continue reading

Busy days

These last two weeks have been full of good food and visitors. Although I´m still waiting to get paid and consequently I could have eaten the  case officer alive, I´ve done my best to be a good host and enjoy the company of friends and family. First my cousin came from Romania with a couple of her friends and stayed for a night and then went on an adventure in the Southern and Western Norway, climbing mountains and getting engaged (the friends, not the cousin). 😉 _MG_9229 Continue reading

Best friends

We were loud. Boy, were we loud! Back in high school, loud was all we knew. Crying for attention, begging to be seen. We felt we could have it all (at least I did) and yet we belonged to the sacrificial generation that had no illusions of a better future. Only dreams. But God did we dream! Our dreams were as wide as corn fields, as tall as skyscrapers! We would make it, and make it big!

Many years later, it´s still the two of us. People come and go, friendships last for a while and so do relationships, even we found ourselves estranged from each other on more occasions than one, but we hold on to each other until we patch things up and move forward. I´m not good at calling, neither is she, she doesn’t even have a fb account any more and so months go by without us sharing a word, but when we do meet it´s like in high school all over again. We laugh until we cry, while sharing a bottle of Prosecco and telling each other all sorts of funny stories from our lives and line of work, me with my criminals and she with her pupils, I tell ya, it´s one hell of a life we´re leading!

London in pics

This was my last getaway in a long time now. 😉 Too much running around and too little work done lately. The laundry keeps piling up, haven´t touched a book in a month and I´m behind with billing, too. Not to mention accountancy. Uæææææ!

Enough about that, though. London was great, as always. I was there in December last year, but before that I hadn´t been in the UK in 6 years and I realised I´d really missed it. Nature was in full bloom, although it was cold as f*, the food was yummy and my friends were great, as always. 😉IMG_9015

Romania 2016

Being at home for a few days at the beginning of January was so soothing! It´s a wonder how family and close friends have the power to get you on the right track again, help you pull yourself together. 😉 I already wrote a couple of entries on the trip, but now I got the pictures to go with the story and it´ll be easier to see what I mean. 🙂

Just look at us, three generations of beautiful and strong women! 😉 Every time I speak to this little lady here I feel my chest swell with so much love, it´s amazing I don´t choke! She´s that special, the little rascal! 😉 So funny, too! She makes me laugh so hard I start hiccuping!

“Hi, how are you? I´m fine!”

“Hi, sweetheart! I´m good, too!”

“Who are you with? I´m with my baby doll!”

Bucharest

I asked my doctor some years ago if he´s sure I´m not bipolar and he said yes. But while re-reading what I wrote yesterday, I can´t help but wonder if I should get a second opinion. 😉

Today I´m fine. I spent a fortune at Max Mara and Stefanel, but that´s not the reason. The sun is shining and I´m in love with Bucharest again. It´s always been a constant in my life and right now I need as many constants as possible.

Ramblings

It´s refreshing to be back in Bucharest, where most of my family and friends live, I let myself be dragged into its moist grip, I venture in it like in the arms of a lover.

As I do it, I´m trying to get a grasp of myself in the mirrors of the city. I sometimes catch a glimpse of my old self, familiar gestures go through me with the violence of an ambush. I go to the same places and although they smell the same, they bring me in a slight state of faint.
