Coming home on Monday night, we were shocked to find out a neighbor was missing. Apparently the Police had been around, asking questions about when she’d been seen last, the divers had searched the river, and they organized a terrestrial and a helicopter search, too. Like in the movies. My heart felt so heavy- here we were complaining about the wind in Amsterdam and a lady from around here says she hopes she’ll at least be found! And I can’t wrap my head around what this means.
I didn’t know her well, in fact I’d only met her once, but I was won over by the fact that she offered to sit Sammy sometimes, it’s not like I’d actually ask her to do it, but it’s nice of people to say something more than hello since it doesn’t happen very often in this country.
It´s funny how body and psyche are interconnected
And yet they step in for each other if needed
Like today, when I´m down with a cold,
But my spirits are quite high.
It´s as if they got it
That I can´t do both at once
The being sick and the being sad
that is, so they gave me a break.
I´m not sad everyday anymore,
But still I´m grateful for a break,
Even though I blow my nose
A hundred times a day
And my mother is nagging about
Rubbing my throat
With salt on my finger
No thanks, I think I got it.
At least I´m not sad.
Morning! The cold has softened and it´s easier to be outside without feeling that you´re losing your nose. Also there´s no wind, so my eyes stopped watering, which is such a relief, ´cause I was walking around with frozen eyelashes all the time. 😉
“Don´t forget the shoes!”
The shoes, right!
Or else I´d have to walk bare-footed,
I´d probably burn my feet
On the ice.
“Don´t forget your coat!”
The coat, right!
I´ll keep that in mind
I should sew my buttons, too
It´s getting colder by the day.
Never mind, never mind,
There´s no place for so much feeling
The internet is flooded with words
And people in their right mind suffer secretly.
“People, you say?”
What do I care about people?
I´m my own people
My own species and my own kind.
I have no filter.
Yey, 2016 is here and I´m back on track, meaning back to my workaholic old me. And that helps a lot when everything else seems to hang by a thread, I tell you! 😉
Yesterday I flew to Trondheim for a job, but the flight was delayed and I didn´t get to do much, other than take a bath, drink the overpriced wine and eat a real chunk of beef in the downstairs restaurant. Luckily, I´d made sure I had a couple hours on my hands after the assignment today, so I could take a stroll in this lovely city, grab a coffee and enjoy a long lunch on my own. Continue reading
I love long weekends and May is full of them! This Monday was Pentecost and we had nice weather, so we went on a walk with our dear Sammy. They say this May is the coldest in some years (I forget how many, Norway is all about weather records as it is!), so I put on way too many clothes, just to find out I didn´t actually need a sweater and a wool scarf, a cotton one would have done just fine. 😉
Can you imagine how happy I was when I woke up this morning to see at least 10 cm of newly fallen snow? (hint: not at all!)
This morning was a disaster in every way, had to wake up at 6 just to find out I wouldn´t have to work after all, but then again they changed their mind, so I had to literally run to reach the train, which was delayed (Thank God!), ´cause then I was told we´ll leave it for tomorrow in the end. Of course I´m billing them, but that´s besides the point. The point is there were almost no buses, it was really early, cold, chaotic and nobody should go through that unless strictly necessary. Hahaha! Besides, I had to wear my winter boots! Bhuuuuu!
