You know the feeling when the alarm rings and you can’t even budge? This is how my mornings have been lately- my body stiff with exhaustion, my limbs aching and my head throbbing with pain. It’s your own fault, I sometimes tell myself, but then it isn’t really, it’s just how this line of work is, either too much or too little to do. A lawyer colleague of mine put it well when I asked him the casual “How’s it going?” and he replied “It’s going to hell, all right”. Haha!
How are you? I’ve been taking it slowly lately, work’s been scarce and I’ve not been feeling great, either, but the weather’s been splendid and I’ve had my partner in crime, Sam, to keep me company. So we went to the woods, bathed in a pond and a river (him, not me), picked some lilies of the valley and felt free and truly blessed to have each other. I’ve always preferred pets to people and as a 10 year old, I used to climb over the garage, where I had a “secret laboratory”, and “cultivate” moss and mushrooms with my huge, lazy, orange, tiger cat.
Saturday it snowed all day, it was grey and gloomy and a perfect day for baking. I and Sam didn’t do that much, we made some cinnamon rolls and then snuggled up indoors. But I’d promised him a walk in the woods on Sunday and, to our luck, the weather proved amazing just for that! I’d thought about going around lake Songsvann, just the two of us, since F was working all weekend, but then I remembered Gordana lives by another lake- Nøklevann- and there’s both forest and a café and all that, so why not ask her if she wants to join? When I called her she was baking bread, so I said we’d be there around the time the bread is ready to be taken out of the oven. 😉 Continue reading
Hi! How are you? I’m fine, tired from all the work and play, but in a light-hearted way. Can’t wait for Xmas, I need a small break when nothing else is on the agenda except for family, friends, good food and drinks and my darling Sam. 😉 (He’s spendig Xmas with us this year!) Continue reading
May is here already, time sure flies fast, next Tuesday I´ll be going home for a whole week! Yippee! Meanwhile I´ve been doing some work related traveling, attended a couple of parties, congratulated a friend of mine with her newborn baby and went to see her, walked Sammy in the woods and now I´m thinking of starting on a diet or joining the gym. I hate both of them, but the gym appeals to me even less than food restrictions!:-( Continue reading
How y’all doing ? These days I´m still a bit up and down and I tend to find people tiresome. And since I meet lots of them in my line of work, some days I´m simply beat without doing much at all. 😉 I don´t even know if it´s anxiety or good old contempt. My therapist planted this idea- what if your contempt for people is rooted in contempt for yourself? Too deep on a Friday evening, though. 😉 haha!
As long as I have my bear and my special someone though, all´s good in the world. We´ve had a bit of sun lately (although it´s still awfully cold!) and so I´ve been exploring the neighbouring woods with Sammy boy. 😉 Continue reading
Yesterday I was a bit under the weather, feeling lazy and lacking energy. I´d already decided it was about time to take Sammy for a walk in the woods and so I sticked to it, although I got a couple of “better” offers from friends- coffee in the city, for the record. 😉 But as a mother you need to put your baby ahead of yourself and so at 11 o´clock we were already on our way to Frognerseteren for the first time this fall. I love long weekends and May is full of them! This Monday was Pentecost and we had nice weather, so we went on a walk with our dear Sammy. They say this May is the coldest in some years (I forget how many, Norway is all about weather records as it is!), so I put on way too many clothes, just to find out I didn´t actually need a sweater and a wool scarf, a cotton one would have done just fine. 😉
Yesterday we had a day off and had planned in advance to meet with our friends Kristin and Jack and their kids for a stroll in the Ekeberg Sculpture Park. I invited them over to our apartment first and served them freshly baked ham and cheese horns, coffee and juice. After playing with Sam and Beo, the kids were excited to go outside and walk for a bit. The park is just 15 minutes away from our place, but it´s like entering a whole different world nevertheless. An enchanted one. Continue reading
This year we´re so lucky as to have 6 days off for Easter! 🙂 And since we stayed in Oslo and the weather has been on our side, we thought we´d take Sammy for nice trips here and there and enjoy our time together as a family. Now I won´t lie to you by saying that I couldn´t imagine a better Easter and that leaving town is overrated, ´cause I´d love to be somewhere nice and warm right now! However, since we´re heading to Romania in a month´s time and my father is visiting at the end of next week, we might as well make the best of our “staycation”, as they call it these days. 😉
