You know the feeling when the alarm rings and you can’t even budge? This is how my mornings have been lately- my body stiff with exhaustion, my limbs aching and my head throbbing with pain. It’s your own fault, I sometimes tell myself, but then it isn’t really, it’s just how this line of work is, either too much or too little to do. A lawyer colleague of mine put it well when I asked him the casual “How’s it going?” and he replied “It’s going to hell, all right”. Haha!
How are you? I’ve been taking it slowly lately, work’s been scarce and I’ve not been feeling great, either, but the weather’s been splendid and I’ve had my partner in crime, Sam, to keep me company. So we went to the woods, bathed in a pond and a river (him, not me), picked some lilies of the valley and felt free and truly blessed to have each other. I’ve always preferred pets to people and as a 10 year old, I used to climb over the garage, where I had a “secret laboratory”, and “cultivate” moss and mushrooms with my huge, lazy, orange, tiger cat.
Today was a really crappy day. It started with the dentist pulling one of my front teeth, so that the others can fit my mouth. Really gross and painful stuff. And besides I look like someone punched me in the face. On top of that, I have a terrible cold and when I’m not sneezing, I’m blowing my nose. And as if that wasn’t enough, I’ve lots of printing and stapling to do since taxes are around the corner and I haven’t given it a thought until now.
If you still have a couple of days of holiday left and you don’t know where to go, you should see Oslo in the fall, before the snow sets in. It’s so pretty! Walking around with Sam today, before parting with him for another week, I decided to take my camera with me, risking to look like a hobo with a fancy lens, and capture the neighbourhood’s bonhomie. I’ve had a perfect day, just perfect. Managed to do a little bit around the house, worked some, walked Sammy and now I’ve found the perfect cookie recipe that I’m dying to try.
Listening to Lenisha Nelson- I’m Good and soaking up the cosy atmosphere of my apartment that I’ve the chance to miss when the Airbnb guests were staying here. I definitely need some more light. And some more candles. And I’m so painting the bedroom in November! Limestone paint is the trick for a dark, luscious bedroom.
Hey! How y’all doing? I’ve had my first Airbnb guest, a guy from Finland and today I’m expecting two American guys who are renting the whole apartment. We’re a bit stressed out, since we were planing on using the apartment this weekend, with a Halloween party going on and all, but hey, at least I’m in business at last! 😉 Paying off some bills and dreaming of a couple of new wardrobe items- a new coat, a pair of boots, a skirt and a couple of sweaters. This week has been crazy busy, I´ve been working like mad, travelled to Molde and back, which ruined me for a couple of days, shone the house for an airbnb guest, bought some flowers and a much-needed pair of jeans from Filipa K. Continue reading
Hi, peeps! What are you up to? I’m done painting, throwing stuff away and organising, now I’m ready for guests! 😉
This is my humble home, come stay with me and let me show you around (and bake you cookies). Continue reading
I feel like watching Spirited Away in bed, with a giant ice-cream bucket in my lap and Beo by my side. I´ve just turned 36 and, although I had a lovely birthday- flowers and champagne included- it was also tearful, with a touch of bitterness. I sat down for the first time with my soon to be ex-husband and we had a glass of wine, talking about old stuff and new stuff, like each other´s significant other, and it was so good and so absurd, it could have been a scene in one of these modern dramas.
I´ve been talking about it for ages, postponing all the time due to lack of time, inconsistency as well as a generally over furnished apartment and life. But now it´s happening! I need to order a bed, some curtains and a small coffee table, give the room a fresh coat of paint and tidy up a bit and I´m there! In a couple of weeks’ time I hope to be on the site.
I haven´t taken any pictures of my home recently, but if you´ve read my blog you´ll know I like mid-century design with a splash of colour. I promise fresh smelling bed sheets, flowers on the bedside table, lots of coffee and a giant pancake breakfast-although I´ve never been a morning person- haha!
Meanwhile I´m getting some inspiration here and there.
