Almost July

Hey, folks, what have you been doing lately? I was in Bergen last week and although the weather was crappy and the trial drove me nuts- both the defendant, the lack of professional curtesy from the judge and the acoustics- it was good to see friends and catch up a bit.

Now I’m back home, counting my blessings, doing a bit of work, walking Sammy in the woods every day and eating strawberries for lunch. 😉  I have a tough time in store, with moving out of my apartment on the 1st of August and needing to sell/give away/throw away lots of stuff and then find a storage for the remainder of my things. I can’t even begin to think about it, it makes me sick to my stomach.

I’m starting to get restless about my job again, I’m working with so many twats (lawyers, prosecutors, judges and defendants) that I sometimes lose faith that I’ll ever be able to get the respect I need to feel professionally fulfilled. But then I usually work 20h/week, instead of 40-50, as many of my friends do and at least I have no boss, neither any reports to fill inn, so I shouldn’t complain. Still, it gets to me every time. Few people care about quality, everybody wants you to jump out of bed at any time of the day when they need you and as soon as you don’t, they trade you for a hungrier colleague. And I can’t live like that.

But first things first, we’re going to France on the 9th and I can’t wait. I just need some sun, a beach, French food and Mediterranean vibes. Walking hand in hand with my love on a cobblestone street, making plans about our new home, sipping coffee on a terrace, reading a good novel in the shade, need I say more?

I’ll be sure to take my camera with me!

Kristiansand

I’m out of town for a couple of days, this time in Kristiansand. It’s a pretty town in Southern Norway and although I haven’t gotten the chance to see much of it, what I’ve seen so far is pretty promising. My friend Svetla, who’d been here recently, urged me to book a room at the new Scandic hotel, by the “city beach”. Although this meant walking to the courthouse for a whole 5 minutes (and I’m incredibly lazy in the morning!), I reckoned it would probably do me good to have nice surroundings, a view and a spa on top of that! skjermbilde-2017-03-02-22-33-21

Weekend

I started on this entry on Wednesday and called it Hump Day (aka Wednesday, don´t think of silly things, please!), at that time I was frustrated with the world and its lack of courtesy, so I felt grateful to be two days away from the weekend, Prosecco glass in my hand. 🙂 Yesterday however I was in a different state entirely, so I changed the title to Almost Weekend and uploaded these serene pictures to go with it. I didn´t manage to write any text, ´cause my mother called and we talked for ages. Then she passed me Diana, who told me silly little things like “people have to tidy up, you know. hihi!” And I was like “Let me see you when you grow up, how fun you think it is then!” haha! So today I realise it is the Weekend, which reflects in my choice of title. 😉

Friday yay!

I survived this week, although I had my doubts! You see, I forgot my luggage on the train to Skien on Tuesday and I had serious withdrawal symptoms from my Mac. 😉 I was longing for it like we ache for love-haha! Talk about addiction!But now we´re reunited! ❤

Working Sunday

There´s nothing like waking up at 7 on a Sunday morning to boost your self esteem! 😉 Haha! Especially if you´ve had trouble sleeping, like I have lately.

Joke aside, work is one of the few areas where I still feel on top of things, so it was good t0 fly to Trondheim with an attorney I´m buddies with and that tried his best to fit me into his schedule just so he wouldn´t have to use another interpreter. If that´s not flattering, I don’t know what is. 😉 And right now I´ll settle for professional flattery any day! So sick and tired of the other type of flattery, I wish I were plain looking sometimes. It would be so comforting, people would have to peel one layer at a time, like an onion. Or not peel anything at all. Which would leave me better off than now, anyways. :-/

Perks of an Interpreter

Yey, 2016 is here and I´m back on track, meaning back to my workaholic old me. And that helps a lot when everything else seems to hang by a thread, I tell you! 😉

Yesterday I flew to Trondheim for a job, but the flight was delayed and I didn´t get to do much, other than take a bath, drink the overpriced wine and eat a real chunk of beef in the downstairs restaurant. Luckily, I´d made sure I had a couple hours on my hands after the assignment today, so I could take a stroll in this lovely city, grab a coffee and enjoy a long lunch on my own. IMG_8694 Continue reading →

Fiddling about

I was out of town for 3 days for work and I can´t even begin to tell you how good it is to be home again! Hotel life is smooth enough if you have someone to share it with, but when you have to eat alone two days in a row and watch silly series on TV because you decided to be “generous” with your significant other and leave the Mac at home, not so much… 😉

On my way home I got to pick some wild flowers and they light up the whole house! 😉 I also might have bought a pair of high heels sandals, although the budget didn´t allow it. 😉 Oops!

Winter is back

Can you imagine how happy I was when I woke up this morning to see at least 10 cm of newly fallen snow? (hint: not at all!)

This morning was a disaster in every way, had to wake up at 6 just to find out I wouldn´t have to work after all, but then again they changed their mind, so I had to literally run to reach the train, which was delayed (Thank God!), ´cause then I was told we´ll leave it for tomorrow in the end. Of course I´m billing them, but that´s besides the point. The point is there were almost no buses, it was really early, cold, chaotic and nobody should go through that unless strictly necessary. Hahaha! Besides, I had to wear my winter boots! Bhuuuuu!

Hotel life

I´ve just landed in Bergen, the weather is rainy and I´m too tired for dinner, so I grabbed a burger on my way to the hotel and was happy to find wine in the fridge, regardless of the crazy price. 😉 Changed into a bath robe and getting ready for Twin Peaks, I discovered this inspiring blog and wanted to share it with you first.
