Sour Cream Porridge

My first three years in Norway I spent in Vestlandet- the Western Lands, a picture perfect place with lots of  manure smelling pastures. Unfortunately, those were also the most depressive years of my life. Too rainy, too small, very rural and with taciturn people, the place was nothing compared to what Bucharest had been and I longed to go back every day.  A few things stayed with me due my stay there- I can imitate the dialect to a certain extent and I love sour cream porridge! In fact, I love it so much I order it all year around at Frogneseteren restaurant, if I happen to go there.

Lothes Vin og Mathus

I didn’t have my camera with me last week and the way it was raining and blowing, I don’t think I would have dared to take it out of the hotel room anyways. But I promised you a couple of words about my going out on my own to a 3 courses treat and so here it is. 🙂 Having ventured outside in the kind of weather you wouldn’t expose your dog to (except for Sam, who actually enjoys it!), I made my way to the marina, since people said it was where it all happened. I found them all lined up- restaurants, bars, the lot of it. Neither of them looked very appealing and I thought to myself, is it really possible that the provinces are so lacking in style? And then I spotted it, just when the thought of settling had struck me, I saw the cute wooden house on the top of the hill and went up with my life at stake, since the stairs were very slippery. 😉

Espresso cookies, please!

As promised, here’s the espresso cookie recipe. I didn’t manage the deed yesterday, too tired for that (I actually fell asleep on the couch at 10:30 pm!), but today I got around to do it. After lazying around for the better part of the day, eating cold pizza for breakfast and pasta with a bit of this and that for lunch, I felt it was time to do some baking and then, in the middle of it, I realised I lacked an egg. So I knocked on the neighbours’ door and they didn’t have, either, they’d just eaten them for breakfast, but they invited me and Sammy to stay a bit and have a cup of tea. Needless to say we couldn’t have been more happy! _MG_9912.jpg Continue reading

Banana cake

It´s my first time making it and I love it! Aside from the fact that it´s super easy to put together, it tastes fantastic and I can have it for breakfast with coffee, since I never bother to eat a proper meal that early in the morning anyways. And I can take it with me to my assignments, too. On Saturday some friends are coming over from London and so I´m set for the visit, too. 😉 Haha! I´m such a practical person! Do give it a try! _MG_9230.jpg

Friday yay!

I survived this week, although I had my doubts! You see, I forgot my luggage on the train to Skien on Tuesday and I had serious withdrawal symptoms from my Mac. 😉 I was longing for it like we ache for love-haha! Talk about addiction! But now we´re reunited! ❤
