Sunday fun day

We´ve had amazing weather this weekend, it was warm enough to strip down to your t-shirt in the sun, so we´ve been working on our tan from different terraces in town, enjoying a coffee or a beer with good friends. Yesterday we hit the flea market and found a lovely antique mirror and today we met Irina and Stefan downtown for a chat. My father´s still in Oslo and he´s been enjoying the sunny days as much as we have. We´be been walking until our feet hurt, showing him some of the cosy places in town, admiring buildings and churches and smiling at people sunbathing in their bikinis in the park. And Sam has been with us all the time, of course. 😉IMG_2458 Continue reading

Pops is visiting

My father is visiting for a couple of weeks and since I didn´t have a lot of work these days, Sam and I got to be tourists, too. Today we went to the Akershus Fortress, where I´d only been a couple of times before, but which remains a “hidden gem” by the harbor. It´s from medieval times and they still use most of the buildings housing museums, the National Defense Guard, military offices and this sort of things. The cobblestone alleys and the low houses make you feel like you´re traveling back in time. If only there hadn´t been this many cars parked around!

Armenian Genocide

This year the world commemorates a hundred years since the Armenians were systematically killed or driven to their death by the Ottoman Empire. Along with Holocaust and the Rwandan genocide, the Armenian massacre has been recognized as one of the worst crimes against humanity in the 20th century.

We have a close friend from Armenia who offered us tickets to a concert in the central church- Oslo Domkirke. The national philharmonic of Yerevan held a wonderful performance in remembrance of the victims and their descendants, inviting people all over the world to reunite in thought and in spirit for the Armenian cause.

Sweet freelance life

Second Easter day was spent “en famille”. My father came from Romania yesterday and we had a nice breakfast with lots of lovely coffee and cozonac, our traditional holiday cake. I was lucky not to have anything on my agenda and had sort of decided not to work, but when nobody required my services, I was even happier I didn´t have to turn anybody down.

It was a fresh and sunny day and I had a long walk with Sam. I let him run free and chase the geese by the lake, then we went all the way to the marina to enjoy the view. Later on I had coffee with a friend and her 2 months daughter, in our neighborhood coffeeshop. 😉 On my way home again I picked up some fresh tulips and a bottle of wine. V is making shrimps with leeks in a tomato sauce, served with white rice for dinner, then we´re out to have a beer with a friend of ours.

Cute Dog ‘Q’ Sitting On Things

Tomas Werner photographed this cute little dog outdoors, using the incredibly photogenic Miami as a backdrop. The dog is willingly posing as a real model. Werner gathered his pictures in a book called “A Handbook Dog Walkers”. Take a look!

Marrakech riads

From where I´m sitting now- on my living room couch, wrapped up in a woolen blanket- the idea of some warm days of pampering and good food is more alluring than ever. I´ve never been to Marrakech, but it´s always been on my list. With all these traveling plans and a wallet not big enough to put up with them, it might be a while until we get there. But hey, dreaming is free of charge! 😉

Weekend

Although we´re celebrating orthodox Easter this weekend, the Norwegian Easter break is over and our friends are back from Nice. So we got together over dinner and wine at our place to start the weekend right. Sammy was very happy to see them both and was all over the place with joy! 😉 And so were we! They came with stories of the Mediterranean, of 20 degrees in the shade and of antique markets. We have to go there together!

A gettaway to Cristina´s cabin

I wrote about feeling a bit lonely since almost everybody was gone this Easter break and the city was empty of people. As a response to that, a fellow countryman whom I´d only met a couple of times, but who was on my list of fb friends, invited us over to her cabin! Can you imagine such an act of generosity? 🙂 And we said yes, although my man was so anxious after having watched so many horror movies in his life that he had to check her fb page and see what she was up to! Haha! 😉 Luckily it was all ikebana and benign stuff. 😉 haha! IMG_2205 Continue reading

Good Friday

This year we´re so lucky as to have 6 days off for Easter! 🙂 And since we stayed in Oslo and the weather has been on our side, we thought we´d  take Sammy for nice trips here and there and enjoy our time together as a family. Now I won´t lie to you by saying that I couldn´t imagine a better Easter and that leaving town is overrated, ´cause I´d love to be somewhere nice and warm right now! However, since we´re heading to Romania in a month´s time and my father is visiting at the end of next week, we might as well make the best of our “staycation”, as they call it these days. 😉
