Sunday mornings

Sunday mornings are holy. I seldom work during the weekends, but on the few occasions I do, like today, I make sure we have some quality time afterwards. So I was reunited with my man and Sammy at around 13:30 and after some jumping and smooches from Sam´s part, the three of us went to our neighborhood café to sit in the sun and sip some coffee. I had only eaten some blueberries by then, so I was hungry as a wolf. Soon after, Ryan, our neighbor, appeared with Emi, Sam´s girlfriend and we talked for a couple of minutes. We had bought a small beanie for their newborn girl and so we were happy to see them. Besides being boyfriend girlfriend, Sam and Emi are best friends and they show lots of affection in public. 😉 They play, kiss and lick each other non-stop. 😉 Just look at how cute they are together!

Food for crappy weather

Today I was supposed to attend a course, but I woke up with a horrible cold and decided to stay in bed for the rest of the day instead. Fantasizing about food and summer, I found these images on Pinterest that reflect the way I feel about yet another grey day. Let the summer come before I start binging on food for real! 😉 Continue reading

Braided loaf with pesto

Yesterday I started interpreting at a two days´trial just to be sent home after two hours with a promise that I´ll be called again as soon as the trial has been rescheduled. So I was kind of disappointed, but also relieved (since I´m pathologically lazy these days) and I went straight home and back to bed where I watched the Brittish series “Happy Valley” for hours on end. After an afternoon walk with Sammy I felt like doing something else than lying around, so I baked a braided loaf with pesto. Very easy, quite pretty and oh so yummy! 😉

Ham and cheese horns

I´ve written about them before, back when I had no readers at all, so I thought I should try it again. 😉 This is a Sunday morning breakfast or brunch tradition! Just ask my friends! I love most things old fashion, including baking. No fancy schmancy cream cake will ever live up to grandma´s donuts or my nanna´s biscuits. And these horns are no exception! 😉

Let me tell you about my weekend

Long time, no see. Hope you´ve missed me. 😉 This weekend was exhausting, I swear!

On Friday we went to a party in town and I was confronted with my lack of social skills- I don´t dance, I´m not good at mingling (unless I´m drunk or I know everybody there), I don´t hear very well when the music is loud and I´m terrible with strangers. Hahaha! So after trying to look cool and glam and a citizen of the world for an hour and a half, I suddenly felt the urge to go home to my couch and Twin Peaks. 😉 Bahaha! And that would have been fine, had I not forgotten my keys and spoilt V´s party, too. 😉 Tough luck.

Hotel life

I´ve just landed in Bergen, the weather is rainy and I´m too tired for dinner, so I grabbed a burger on my way to the hotel and was happy to find wine in the fridge, regardless of the crazy price. 😉 Changed into a bath robe and getting ready for Twin Peaks, I discovered this inspiring blog and wanted to share it with you first. It´s about food, design, style and an artful living, I´m in! 😉

Saturday peek

I love Saturdays so much and even more so when V has a day off! Today we started the day smooching Sam by the bed, then we had coffee and cuddles with Beo in the living room and a walk to the city center for wine and groceries. We´re having guests for dinner and we´ll be serving them Vietnamese fresh rolls and Pavlova cake. Fresh rolls mean that everybody grills their own favorite (fish, shrimps and beef) and assembles it with noodles, greens and veggies, then rolls it in a rice sheet and dips it in a homemade Hoisin sauce. 😉

Gateau Marcel à la Magne

Best cake I´ve had in ages! We went to dinner to some friends´ house and when they served us this cake we managed to eat the whole thing! 🙂 So yesterday I had to replicate the success, since we had guests of our own. 😉 It´s a two layered cake, made out of the same dough, half of it you bake and the rest you put on top as a chocolate mousse. It´s easy to make, scrumptious and divine! As one lady put it, you only need to know how bake two cakes: this and a chocolate cake, in case you have children visiting. 😉 I so agree!

Brunchcity by Andrea G.Portolés and Bea Crespo

Too cute not to blog about it! A photographer and an illustrator went together to make a series about what people across the world eat for brunch. What an ingenious idea! I´m sure you´ll recognize most of them! What do you have for brunch where you live? In Romania you´d probably grab some pastry while in Norway you´ll most likely have a raisin bun. 😉 Enjoy!

Lentil soup with cusk fish

It took me about 12 years to liberate myself from recipes and put together my own meals. That doesn´t mean I don´t enjoy a new dish from time to time, but I also don´t need to rush to the store if I don´t have the exact same spice as in the book or tomato paste, for that matter.;-)

Lately I´ve discovered lentils, they work wonderfully in small quantities, both in soups and in salads. Today I tried to replicate a soup from Adams matkasse, a delivery service that brings us groceries and meat for 5 meals once a week. But since I didn´t have all the ingredients, I ended up “creating” this. Hope you´d like to try it!
