Easter is finally here and it couldn’t have come any sooner! I’ve been busting my ass off lately, traveling here and there, planes and trains and cars and busses and what not. I really need some time off, sunny days filled with good food and drink, walkies with Sammy, dosing off in front of our new favourite series- Hotel Beau Séjour- and painting around the house. I’m finally selling after the holidays and I need all the help I can get from a fresh coat of paint and newly washed windows. I was about to write “if you feel like helping out”, but then I realised what I need most is some people detox. Haha! Too much socializing in my line of work, they end up eating you alive!

Oslo Love
Being home after 4 days of boring hotel life is a blast. Not only do I get to hang out with my two favourite guys in the world, but I can eat whatever I feel like, sleep to my heart’s content and move around without the need to put on a bra and take the elevator down 4 floors. Beat that! 😉
A Sunday Well-Spent
Saturday it snowed all day, it was grey and gloomy and a perfect day for baking. I and Sam didn’t do that much, we made some cinnamon rolls and then snuggled up indoors. But I’d promised him a walk in the woods on Sunday and, to our luck, the weather proved amazing just for that! I’d thought about going around lake Songsvann, just the two of us, since F was working all weekend, but then I remembered Gordana lives by another lake- Nøklevann- and there’s both forest and a café and all that, so why not ask her if she wants to join? When I called her she was baking bread, so I said we’d be there around the time the bread is ready to be taken out of the oven. 😉 Continue reading
Cinnamon Rolls
Listening to Summertime by Ella Fitzgerald when snowing outside says it all. Just had coffee with my friend Merete and while watching the snow flakes fall, she blurted out: “Oh, I’m going skying! Yey!”. And while probably feeling the same tingle of magic, my reaction was totally different: “Yey, I’m baking cinnamon buns”! 😉 Haha!
Limbo
Awaiting a real winter or maybe spring, I find it hard to tell the days apart and all I feel like is sleep under the covers. Work has been scarce up until now, but by next week I’ll be back on track and that’ll at least take my mind off the winter blues. I could pack a suitcase and run away with my love to Cuba, where a fellow blogger just spent what seem to have been glorious days.
December
Hi, peeps! What’s up? I’m dead tired after working alone yesterday, whisper interpreting for many hours on end is the worst and my throat is still sore. So I called it a day off, took Sammy to the woods and now I’m planning to dose off on the couch for an hour or so. 😉 Continue reading
Fall in Oslo
If you still have a couple of days of holiday left and you don’t know where to go, you should see Oslo in the fall, before the snow sets in. It’s so pretty! Walking around with Sam today, before parting with him for another week, I decided to take my camera with me, risking to look like a hobo with a fancy lens, and capture the neighbourhood’s bonhomie. September
These pictures are from September, I completely forgot about them. It was such a lovely month- good weather and lots of goodies to eat. A new café/wine bar opened in the neighbourhood- Galgen and we took Sammy there for a treat. Lazy mornings- perfect for scones and elderberry jam. Continue reading
Sunday in the Woods
Today I took my Sammy to the woods by Nøklevann. First we had our morning coffee at Gordanas’s, where Sam chased a toy mouse and a tennis ball when he was not tickling the girls and stealing kisses from them.
“Did you bring woodsy clothes today?” (the girls)
“This.”
“Will you be warm?”
“I think so.”
“Where’s your wind jacket?”
“I don’t own one.”
“Alina!”
Summer in September
I keep reading this September has the highest temperature recorded in over 100 years and while I´m concerned about our planet´s future, I couldn´t be happier for a prolonged summer. I can put on some shorts and a t-shirt and take Sammy out for an evening beer in the neighbourhood. 😉 Continue reading
