Easter break

What are you doing this Easter? We have no plans, other than a day trip to Gothenburg that might or might not go through. So I figured I should use this Easter as an excuse to decorate with flowers, bake some cakes and catch up on some reading. The weather seems to be on our side (for once!), so I welcome lazy breakfasts, walkies with Sammy and some British crime. Meanwhile, I´ll be working a couple of more hours here and there and on Thursday it´s officially on!;-) Enjoy the ride through my house!

Industrial Loft in Barcelona

Resembling a New York apartment, this loft is a rare find in Barcelona with its 170 m2 areal, its incredible light and all the original details. I love the feeling such a huge space gives one when scarcely furnished, how the interior is kept simple without turning boring, not to speak of all the glimpses of color and playfulness. I´ve always appreciated open solutions, but I don´t know if it´s so easy to receive guest when you don´t have a bedroom door? What do you think?

Getting there

I haven´t written about our apartment in a long time, mostly because I´m so frustrated about how long it takes to get in order! Grrr!

We still need a bigger wardrobe, we need somebody to dig for the original floors, plaster the walls in the living room, the bedroom and the studio, renovate the bathroom, build some extra shelves, buy some art and redo half the kitchen! It´s gonna take forever and cost a fortune! I want a marble counter top and some nice lamps, as well as shelves.

Mykonos holiday retreat

This is the British couple Katie and Jonny Friedman´s paradise on earth and you can rent it for holidays if you wish! Facing the Aegean sea, the house preserves the architecture typical for Greece that the owners have spiced up with some designer classics such as George Nelson lamps, tulip chairs and so on. An ascetic feeling predominates and invites you to enjoy your leisure time.

Tales of spring and hope

Although it´s still February, we´ve seen the sun a couple of times, it snowed  and the snow melted again, in a few words- I´m in the mood for spring. Thought I´d share with you a couple of pictures of our apartment and our life while waiting for spring. 🙂

Living room lamp

I´m so excited, I can barely breathe! I finally found the perfect lamp for our living room! A limited edition Louis Poulsen PH lamp in copper! Ai ai ai! I´ve never seen anything this beautiful, I swear! But I should let you see for yourselves. I´ll place an order as soon as I manage to scrape together the 1200€ it costs!

Perfect Saturday

How are you doing? I´ve had perfect Saturday doing only things I enjoy! I went to town hand in hand with my husband, found a gift from Piet Hein for my friend Cristina, had lunch and got in touch with a guy doing research about Roma people from Romania (fate wanted that to happen since I´m a Romanian interpreter and they need one to accompany them for field trips to Stockholm and Copenhagen!), ate Mexican tapas with close friends to celebrate Cristina´s birthday and stayed up late chit chatting in bed with the birthday girl like teen agers on high school trips.

We also got around to order a new bedroom lamp from George Nelson since I decided that 2014 is the year we get our apartment in order. I already arranged a meeting with a professional to design a new wardrobe and we´re also looking for somebody to paint our walls and dig for the original floors. 😉 A few more baskets for the shoes and Sam and his crate out of the bedroom and it´ll finally turn into a romantic place you actually want to go to sleep in! Do you have that problem, too? That your bedroom is just one big mess of unfolded bedding and socks and orchids that stopped blooming ten years ago? Any advice is much appreciated! Have a lovely Sunday!

Mad Men Apartment

Now, I´m more of a bourgeois person, but I love Mad Men and the 60s! And this apartment could be Don Draper´s bachelor pad for all I know, it´s just too cool to be true! The 60s down to every single detail. The George Nelson lamp (we have it, too!), the oak kitchen, Ilmari Tapiovara´s Mademoiselle chair (we have that, too), the String shelves (oh, yeah!), the Eames rocking chairs, and so on. Nice touch on the bathroom, nothing to say against up-to-date facilities in an otherwise so great replica of another era. What´s your opinion?

Eclectic London home

Wow! What a bold and colorful home! I love the art and the modern elements like the bike in the living room, although I´d never allow it in my own home!;-) And I could only dream of a purple couch, since my husband believes our home suffers from too much woman touch already. Notice the vintage mirrors in the hallway, they play so well with the staircase. On the whole, the decor harmonizes with the house´s architecture. The best place must nevertheless be the large and airy kitchen with direct access to the terrace. And I would´t mind their bedroom, either. Just lovely!

Ellegant Ullevål apartment

Beats me why anybody would ever want to sell this magnificent place, but then again, we wouldn´t be able to see so much beauty if it weren´t for real estate agencies. This dwelling is in a residential area in Oslo, one of the most exquisite, I would say, home to people working in media and academia. I love all the original details, like the broad wooden floors, the stove, the windows and the bourgeois grey tones. Large rooms full of light, a garden where the dog would reside most of the time and little birds the cat would observe from the window pane, this is full bliss for a small family of four! What is your opinion?
