Perks of an Interpreter

Yey, 2016 is here and I´m back on track, meaning back to my workaholic old me. And that helps a lot when everything else seems to hang by a thread, I tell you! 😉

Yesterday I flew to Trondheim for a job, but the flight was delayed and I didn´t get to do much, other than take a bath, drink the overpriced wine and eat a real chunk of beef in the downstairs restaurant. Luckily, I´d made sure I had a couple hours on my hands after the assignment today, so I could take a stroll in this lovely city, grab a coffee and enjoy a long lunch on my own. IMG_8694 Continue reading

Feel

Hurry up and feel

Feel the breeze on your cheek

Feel the changing of seasons

Wash over your soul

Like an echo of longing.

Hurry up and feel

Feel before it´s too late

Before all you want to do is sleep

Sleep your days away

Because it hurts too much to be awake.

Hurry up and feel

Every sunrise and blooming tree

Every cup of coffee

Every tender touch.

By tomorrow it´ll be too late

The depression will have darkened the sight

And your soul will be numb

Like after pulling a tooth.

The Passing into the New Year

This New Year´s Eve was my personal low as far as I can remember and yet it turned out pretty cosy in the end. After a tearful day with lots of Amy Winehouse “Love is a Losing Game” and the feeling that 2016 would never come and I´d die the loneliest person on the planet, after drinking Prosecco as soon as I got home (13:30) and wailing in the bedroom for a couple of hours, I decided I should take a shower, put on my face, bake a cake and take a cab to my cousin´s, ´cause by that time Sam was already terrified by fireworks and I barely managed to drag him after me 10 feet.

Next year

Next year I´ll wear my mask brighter

And keep my cards tighter.

Next year I´ll be more me and less us,

I´ll build my own shelves

And cry my own tears.

I´ll be walking down new roads

Another ones, not yours,

But my own.

Next year I´ll be as strong as my look-alike

The one I see in the mirror

Everytime I leave the house.

New Year´s Eve

I´ve been good for some days now,  keeping busy with work, friends and Sam, going to the movies- 3 films in one week!- and so on. But with New Year lurking around the corner, I hit rock bottom all over again.

I remember a couple of bad New Year´s Eves way back, when I was young, like buying a dress (cause that´s what I used to do every year) and then not knowing where I´d wear it. haha! But I always ended up getting invited to some gig, so I got to wear my dress. You don´t get to laugh at that, I´m dead serious when it comes to dresses! 😉 haha!

Crazy buys for a colourful soul

I was just browsing through the sales and let myself dream of all these lovely outfits I´m never going to wear, both because my line of work requires sober clothing and because I´m a coward who thrives in dark and earth colours. 😉 Take a look! These ones are to die for!

New Year´s Resolutions

  1. Be more cultural. Didn´t get the chance to see Yayoi Kusama´s Infinity Mirrored Room at Louisiana Museum in Copenhagen, but our own Hennie Onstad Art Centre is hosting it in February, so I´ll be sure to make it there in time. Don´t you just love the colours and patterns?kusama003
  2. Travel more. It´s my perpetual New Year´s Resolution and yet I´ve never been on another continent. Maybe 2016 is the lucky year?new-york-city
  3. Dare to take the jump, whatever that might be. Career-wise I´m applying for psychology classes from fall, fingers crossed! 😉jump-off-the-cliff
  4. Do more of what makes you happy- take time to work out, I seldom prioritise it. Between working too much, walking Sammy, socialising and the huge amounts of alone time needed, there´s little room left for working out. Or it might very well be a pretext. I´m good at that. intro-pilates-400x4005. Get pretty stuff. Princess Tam-Tam is my favourite lingerie line and I think it´s about time I get an update on that particular front, too. 😉24592

What are your New Year´s Resolutions? 😉 Any achievable ones, or just the  far-fetched type? 😉

xxx, Alina

Boxing Day

Yey, people are coming back to the city! 😉 Boxing Day is still a day off here, but at least the coffee shops are open again! So I had a date with Merete at Hotel Bristol, where they serve the best hot chocolate in town. Unfortunately, the camera´s battery flattened out by the time they served us the treat, but I did get to snap a couple of pictures of our lovely little Oslo, just as the sun was setting (2 o´clock!). IMG_8658 Continue reading

Xmas Eve and Xmas Brunch

Christmas in Norway is entirely destined to family. Whereas in Romania you´re expected to be at home during the day, but can choose go out for a drink with friends in the evening, in Norway, most places are closed and the city turns into a ghost town. It´s literally like in Oliver Twist, you can walk around peeping inside people´s apartments and see them dining and feasting and you´ll feel like the loneliest person alive. IMG_8369 Continue reading
