Industrial Loft in Barcelona

Resembling a New York apartment, this loft is a rare find in Barcelona with its 170 m2 areal, its incredible light and all the original details. I love the feeling such a huge space gives one when scarcely furnished, how the interior is kept simple without turning boring, not to speak of all the glimpses of color and playfulness. I´ve always appreciated open solutions, but I don´t know if it´s so easy to receive guest when you don´t have a bedroom door? What do you think?

Getting there

I haven´t written about our apartment in a long time, mostly because I´m so frustrated about how long it takes to get in order! Grrr!

We still need a bigger wardrobe, we need somebody to dig for the original floors, plaster the walls in the living room, the bedroom and the studio, renovate the bathroom, build some extra shelves, buy some art and redo half the kitchen! It´s gonna take forever and cost a fortune! I want a marble counter top and some nice lamps, as well as shelves.

Tales of spring and hope

Although it´s still February, we´ve seen the sun a couple of times, it snowed  and the snow melted again, in a few words- I´m in the mood for spring. Thought I´d share with you a couple of pictures of our apartment and our life while waiting for spring. 🙂

Boutique Hotel, Portugal

Now a 100-acre organic farm, Community Culture Retreat was a former ruin, restored by Pedro Ressano Garcia to reflect the Community Culture concept. The courtyard has two houses and it concentrates on sharing a culture of organic production, hospitality and gastronomy. The key achievement of the project was redefining already existing buildings and making do with what materials were available.

Community Culture Retreat has 7 rooms and a library and hall for seminars, concerts and workshops. Relax by the pool, enjoy a secluded room or take part in a harvest. Don´t mind if I do!

November week

I was starting to forget the main reason why people love working freelance- being in charge of your own time. I rarely feel this is the case for my part, in my line of work I´m way too busy 90% of the time. Thank God November can be slow! This week has been smooth and good for the soul. I filled my days with a little work, walked with Sam, billed and read. I´m also making healthy comfort food since I´m on a diet. It´s just that I surpassed 60kg and knowing that Christmas is right around the corner and that I´m in my 30s, I thought I´d take matters into my hands before they escalate. Today I thought I should reward myself with a faux chocolate mousse made of avocado, cocoa, bananas, apple juice and olive oil. Blend two avocados, two bananas, 3 tea spoons of cocoa, one tea spoon of olive oil and two tea spoons of apple/orange juice. Bonne appetite!

Amazing loft in Oslo

Not really what I´m looking for since I prefer a one-storey house, this apartment is nevertheless an architectural pearl! I love the lines, the styling, the light, the boldness of the transparent bathroom and the way they made use of every inch and corner. Not to mention the naked beams and the wooden staircase! Tell me what you think!

Converted farmhouse in Hampshire, England

Can you believe this was a barn? God, I love its details, the beams, the light, the wooden walls! This former stall was converted into a 3 rooms apartment and retains a lot of charm and character. What do you think?

Jaffa house

Now this is a unique property! Hundreds of years old house in Old Jaffa, overlooking the Mediterranean Sea, this is more than regular people dare to dream of! This gem of a house was stripped down to the bone to reveal its former beauty and didn´t they do a marvelous job?! I love the respect they showed the house´s frame and how the modern embraces its old ascetic feel. If I ever get to own a holiday home, let it be like this one!
