Pre-Christmas Days

Hey, peeps! How are you? I’ve been way too busy for my own good lately, but now that the weekend is here I have little plans to do anything else than relax, bake a little, clean the house and buy a cute Christmas tree.

Sammy turned 5 on Tuesday and since that day was horrendously hectic for my part, he only got a longer walk and some liver pate as a treat. But yesterday we finally bought him a new toy and he was ecstatic, he carried it around everywhere and asked us to keep it, so he could pull it from our hands. 😉 haha! You should have seen him! So cute!

I’m done with the gifts, except for one last extra present, now I only need to bake a bit, fill up the cookie jars and wrap the presents up. What about you? Are you “en route”? Have you done the Christmas baking, too?

These pics are from our neighborhood, where I’m taking Sam for walkies three times a day, listening to Sidney Bechet, Nat King Cole and Madeleine Peyroux. With my condition, I cannot overwork myself, or else I come crashing down and lose my will to wake up, so I need to plan a day off here and there or a couple of half days, to cope with the pressure. That’s exactly what I did yesterday- after wrapping up a couple of things with the accountant and delivering some small presents, it was just me on the agenda. I had a Prosecco with a close friend, then a couple more on my own, under the pretext of feeling sorry for myself on account of the pain ( apparently you need a couple of vaccines for Morocco). 😉

Yesterday evening we went out for pizza and beer, just me and my boo. It felt like ages ago we did anything together, just the two of us, and it’s oh so important. The town was teeming with drunk people already at 5 o’clock and again I felt ashamed of this stupid Christmas party tradition here where people seem to lose all common sense. Do you have the same wherever you are?

Leaving you with a couple of endearing pictures of Sammy boy, guarding the neighborhood. Fancying a bath with a glass of cold Christmas soda. 😉

November Weekend

It’s grey, rainy and dark these day, but it’s the last week of November and Christmas is around the corner. And thank God for it! I totally get why people try to escape to warmer places this time of the year and although I was just home for a week in the beginning of October and we’re going to Marrakech just after Christmas, I’d roam the country in a second, if I could.

EAM- the Store

Vuong has finally opened his first store in Markveien 28 in Oslo and it’s amazing! I’m telling you, he’s so talented and his esthetics are so on, it’s crazy! I felt so proud I shed a couple of tears! Hopefully it will be a great success, I know I’ll do my bit to advertise for his products!

Winter is here again

Last weekend we went to the mountains at this ski and spa resort. Don’t worry, I still don’t know how to ski and I doubt I’ll be learning very soon, since my significant other couldn’t care less about that activity, either. We did a little bit of the spa bit, though not the completely over the roof overpriced treatments, just the swimming pool, sauna and the jacuzzi: “This is boring!”, someone said about the latter. Haha!

There was some snow, the first one we’d seen this year and it made us pretty excited. We had a hike with all the clothes we’d brought on and still it was a bit too chilly. On Saturday we had a couple of drinks in the library bar and dinner at the restaurant downstairs, dressed for the occasion. 😉 They only served buffet and it seldom tends to be very exciting, but it wasn’t bad, either.

Fall Days

I’ve started writing a bit, nothing amazing, just short stories I have trouble wrapping up, so that’s why you haven’t heard from me in a while now. Otherwise I’ve been walking Sam in the woods and taken lots of pictures of mushrooms, there’s an awful lot of them this year and they’re so pretty! I’ve been trying to go to a mushroom course for two weeks in a row now, but the planets don’t seem to be aligning in order for that to happen- either I need to work or they’re fully booked. Oh, well. Next year, then!

Amazing Day

Ca-ching! The money came in yesterday and so ended my period of austerity and social unrest. haha! 😉 And since a celebration was in order, I, Sam and Corina decided to go on a small berry picking adventure. I haven’t had so much fun in ages!

Slow Life

How are you? I’ve been taking it slowly lately, work’s been scarce and I’ve not been feeling great, either, but the weather’s been splendid and I’ve had my partner in crime, Sam, to keep me company. So we went to the woods, bathed in a pond and a river (him, not me), picked some lilies of the valley and felt free and truly blessed to have each other. I’ve always preferred pets to people and as a 10 year old, I used to climb over the garage, where I had a “secret laboratory”, and  “cultivate” moss and mushrooms with my huge, lazy, orange, tiger cat.

17th of May

Help! On Wednesday it’s the 17th of May and I haven’t done a damn’ thing about it! In fact, I haven’t even had the chance to think of it, as busy as I’ve been stressing with the sale of the apartment, with Airbnb guests, work, Sam and my fragile condition- my immune system tends to collapse whenever things pile up.

In case you didn’t know, 17th of May is a major holiday in Norway. Not only is it their national day, when people celebrate the Constitution of this fairly young country, but it’s the children’s day, too. They get to march all the way to the castle while waving flags or playing their instrument in the school orchestra. Besides wearing “bunad”, the traditional national costume, Norwegians usually hold sumptuous Champagne brunches and go out people watching with their whole family.

My Beloved Apartment is for Sale

A new chapter in my life begins in a month or so, when I’m moving in with my boyfriend (formally), after selling my apartment. Our plans are to drink rosé on the terrace the whole summer and find a new place together in the fall. I’ve loved living here so much! Take a look! ❤Skjermbilde 2017-05-06 12.31.23.png Continue reading
