Home again

Summer holiday is over and to begin with I didn’t really know if I should be sad or relieved, as I was a bit tired of the heat and I’d started missing Sammy and my friends. Β  Besides, all good things come to an end and if they didn’t, we would just take them for granted in the end. πŸ˜‰ Although, between me and you, going back to jackets and carrying an umbrella in my bag was not my plan for August, I have to admit.

My Oslo

Lately I find myself fascinated by people. And, as it is with many other things, once you start looking around, you can’t undo it, you notice all sorts of patterns, all sorts of folks and funny behavior you just need to photograph. That being said, I’m not there quite yet. In fact the pictures with the best potential were the ones that got too blurry because I didn’t have the balls to focus or to go close enough. You see, in Oslo it’s not customary to take pictures of people without their knowing. But hey, I can’t help myself! So here they are. Lady in red, waiting by the bus. Continue reading

Too much on my plate

You know the feeling when the alarm rings and you can’t even budge? This is how my mornings have been lately- my body stiff with exhaustion, my limbs aching and my head throbbing with pain. It’s your own fault, I sometimes tell myself, but then it isn’t really, it’s just how this line of work is, either too much or too little to do. A lawyer colleague of mine put it well when I asked him the casual “How’s it going?” and he replied “It’s going to hell, all right”. Β Haha!

Reflections

This week has been so busy it’s a wonder I’m still alive! Apart from working full days in court, I had Sam to walk in the afternoon and photography courses Tuesday and Thursday after hours. πŸ˜‰ And if you think that interpreting in court for a whole day is like working in the office from 9-5, think again! People can’t even be bothered to turn on the microphone, they speak without exhaling and they generally lack any sign of professional courtesy. So imagine your head spinning with legal sections and subsections, slightly hungry and fedd up the world and then trying to sit still in class and socialize a bit during the breaks, too. Y-ha! πŸ˜‰

Lunch at Sentralen

Ever since I moved away from the city centre, most weekends have been about walking Sammy, visiting friends or having people over for coffee. Thinking back I’ve probably stayed in more often than not- taking in the view, doing yoga and baking cake. And since there was no Sam to walk yesterday and we’d both been quite busy lately, I invited F out for lunch, like in the good old days. πŸ˜‰

Garden Life

I haven’t blogged in a long time and I realized I’ve kind of missed it! The thing is I’m trying to write “real stuff”- short stories or even a novel and the process is exhausting, I’m telling you! Besides, it leaves me with a feeling that blogging is just amateur writing that no one reads anyways. But then a couple of friends told me they were looking forward to my new entries and so I decided to let you know how things are on this side of the world. πŸ˜‰

Lunching and catching up

Regardless of the cold and the wind, our short trip to Amsterdam inspired me. Norway may be rich and all that, but it’s really only the end of the world! Oslo still needs 20 years more to become as continental as the rest of Europe. If ever. On coming back though, I realized I’d missed the city, as provincial as it might sometimes feel. πŸ™‚ Β Blame it on living a tad far away, on trying to make it through this never-ending winter or on the commitments Sammy boy implies, a lunch date on a Saturday is more the exception than the rule, it turns out. πŸ˜‰ But yesterday I decided to grant myself some urban time and invited a friend of mine out for lunch. Meanwhile, another friend wanted to grab a beer later on and so I asked F if he could walk Sammy and a perfect day lay ahead.

Another Year

From being a city girl from my fingers to my toes, in just 6 months, I can’t even imagine my life without a spectacular view anymore. Although it takes a while to get to the city centre and I can no longer walk everywhere, I simply love living here, not to mention Sam, who’s delighted in every sense of the word.

That being said, we’re still looking for a bigger place, it would be nice to have a spare room and throw a party every now and then without feeling that we’re literally sitting on each other’s laps. πŸ˜‰ But either we can’t really afford whatever is out there or what’s out there is way under our standards.
