Copenhagen part I

We arrived on Thursday at around 9 pm at our friends´ amazing apartment in Østerbro and were welcome with bubbles, Danish roast beef, sesame broccoli salad, remulade (a sort of mayo with pickles inside), to mention some of the goodies. We chatted and toasted and pet their dog until we girls collapsed at around 1, but the guys carried on until 4 am. There was the joy of seeing each other again, all those nooks in the apartment that had to be discovered, you name it.

Derek Swalwell

I´ve done some laundry, decluttered the bedroom, read the newspaper and aired the house, now it´s time for some much needed inspiration and a nap before we go out for dinner. This evening we´re seeing John Legend in concert and we can´t wait. Meanwhile, I discovered Derek Swalwell, an Australian photographer whose work is stunning! Not only are the images beautifully curated, but they convey such a serene atmosphere I feel like jumping right in, like Alice in Wonderland.;-) Enjoy!

Cos

I simply love Cos. Simple Scandinavian lines, impeccable cuts and fair prices. This fall I´m mostly working in court, so I get to wear dresses almost every day. Yippi yey! Since I´m not disciplined enough to find an outfit the evening before, dresses are perfect, I have them all lined up, all I have to do is decide whether I need a jacket, and if so, if it´s going to be black, navy or grey. 😉 I present you with some inspiration for the grey Scandinavian fall, hope it´ll light up your day a bit! xxx, Alina

Hengki Koentjoro

Let me introduce you to Hengki Koentjoro, a fine art photographer living in Jakarta, Indonesia. I stumbled across his work yet again through Lumas, seems like I get to learn a bit about the artistic world through them. I was immediately fascinated by his black and white pictures, the light and the shades. In an interview given to ndmagazine, he lets us know about his background as a graduate from Brooks Institute of Photography in 1991. At present he´s working as a video cameraman for a production house in Jakarta, photography being mainly a leisure time hobby. If only I had a hobby like this one!;-) Enjoy!

French interiors

It´s been a long time since I found any interiors worthy of sharing, but today I stumbled upon the works of Marianne Evennou through Remodelista and they´re just great! I´ve always loved French interiors and this one is no exception to the rule! Tell me what you think! I love the simple style, quality materials and the beautiful tableaux!;-) Not to speak of the children´s room, I would have loved to have one as a child!;-)

Bedroom update

I love the Scandinavian approach to bedrooms, but I need to turn our bedroom into something more than just a place to sleep. I need some fresh flowers, some more storage and another night table. What do you think of those?

Saturday

This week has gone fast and yet not fast enough. I´ve started working  9-4 with a few exceptions and it´s good to be able to come home and walk Sammy and make some food without constantly being in a rush. I managed to go to the gym once and I hope I can attend yoga tomorrow. It feels good to find some time for yourself. I spend enormous amounts of time on Netflix, but that´s because I´m too tired to do anything else. I´m bad with manicure, but I love it when I have one, so I realized I had to prioritize a bit. Breakfast or manicure? The latter!;-)

Entertaining light

One of my most favorite activities is entertaining! And what better way to do it than by serving the goodies you´ve just brought home from your holiday? This evening was a bit spontaneous, it happened the day after we came home from Paris. We invited our neighbors and friends Annette and Ryan and their dog, Emi over for a chat. Emi is Sammy´s girlfriend, so she had to be present, too!;-) Over a glass of wine and some vivid impressions from our trip, we devoured saucison (the half dried French sausage), macarons, French cheese, Norwegian jams from the Farmers´Maket, rillette de canard (duck meat spread) and fresh baguette. It was informal and delightful! We should do that more often, we concluded! What do you serve from your trips abroad?;-)

Fall in our home

Yesterday I had a day off and it worked wonders for a tired soul.;-) I did some laundry, uncluttered my wardrobe (for the 5th time this year!) and bought some ingredients for today´s party. We had lunch in town and dinner out-of-town, all in all it was a pretty amazing day. I also had some time to sneak fall into our apartment, meaning I picked some chestnuts from the ground, bought a new blanket and some candles. This is what our living room looks like now.

Fall wardrobe

Living in Norway has been good to my fall wardrobe. Since the temperature is usually somewhere between 10 and 20 degrees with the exception of a short summer and an occasionally freezing winter, wool, cashmere and silk blends are perfect to combine. This fall I have lengthier trials which call for an impeccable outfit. What better way to managed that than by investing in some classic key pieces that´ll hopefully never go out of fashion! Choose a wool jacket (black, grey or navy), a sweater dress or a chic wool dress, a couple of heels and some cosy sweaters and you´re good to go!;-)

My favorite brand of all time is Max Mara, but I can only afford stuff from them a couple of times a year- when I buy things that last like a camel hair coat, an office bag and some killer heels. Otherwise Fillipa K and Acne have a nice selection of Scandinavian wear and the prices are more in my street. I´ll show you some of my favorite fashion pieces this fall. (PS. There´s a fair chance they´ll be rather similar to last year´s since I tend to like the same type of clothes. ;-))
