Rustic getaway in Daylesford

My strongest wish is to own a home where I can see myself living till the end of time, so that I can decorate it just as I please without thinking that I will need to sell it at one point. Interior designer´s Kali Cavanagh home is just one of these dreams! Vintage meets rustic meets industrial meets romantic! I mean, what else would you call a bath tub in the bedroom?! Love it!

Living room lamp

I´m so excited, I can barely breathe! I finally found the perfect lamp for our living room! A limited edition Louis Poulsen PH lamp in copper! Ai ai ai! I´ve never seen anything this beautiful, I swear! But I should let you see for yourselves. I´ll place an order as soon as I manage to scrape together the 1200€ it costs!

A busy week comes to an end

What do you reckon? It´s Friday again! Or Friday at last! Whichever one suits you!

I for one am very happy it´s nearly weekend and Valentine´s day on top of it, maybe thanks to the glass of wine and the flowers I bought myself, but I´m not so romantic anyway, so I don´t mind.:-) I´m done with translating the silly Work and Work Place Protection brochure, I´m done traveling for a week or so, happy to be at home with man and pets, not needing to check in or check out, catch any planes or any trains. And it´s just where I want to be. We´re celebrating Valentine´s with Sam´s girlfriend and her parents, who live just down the street, dining and wining.

During the course of the weekend I need to finish some boring accountancy stuff, but first and foremost get lazy with the pets, drink lots of coffee, see a friend or two and take many naps. Haha! Just by reading that I realize I sound like a granny, in fact I used to be teased with that at my former work place, just because I like silk scarves and 60s cut. 😉

I hope you have a lovely day, whether you celebrate Valentine´s or not! And now a couple of pictures from my last days´wandering.

Tired of winter

If you ask me, I think winter should only last one month- December. It´s heavy on my feet, it ruins my shoes, I don´t get to wear my dresses and my hands are always freezing! Besides, there´s a limit to a girl´s guilty conscience! I constantly feel I should be more outdoors, learn to ski, walk in the woods more often or go sledging. But I never feel like doing anything else than sit by the fireplace. Now that´s what I call a challenge since Norwegian winter lasts for ages.

I should probably start traveling to a warmer destination, like many Scandinavians do, but I kind of try to stick to our European seasons. I sometimes imagine myself being happy in a place where it´s never cold, but then I think I´d miss winter. Or maybe all my wool scarves. You see, I´m not as shallow as I like to give the impression of, but I´m positive I was some sort of diva in another lifetime. 😉 haha!

Right now I´m tucked in a blanket and have just finished watching the 3rd season of Mad Men. I´ll make myself a cocoa and hope for milder weather next week. Have a good one!

Snowy days

It´s been snowing for days and it´s so very pretty outside! Snowflakes big like butterflies, they keep on falling down hurriedly, with vigor, as though they had only one purpose in life. It´s windy and it´s ruthless outside and I feel like a polar explorer when I dare leave the house. I hadn´t realized how much I´d missed it, it reminds me of my mother country, the panic on the news and the closed schools. Yet I´m not a winter´s child, I prefer admiring it from under the blanket, with a cup of tea in my hand.  Staring at the snow safe and sound with the cat besides me, I can feel nostalgia slipping into my thoughts.

I´m going home in February and I´m as excited as ever. Every time I go back home it´s like taking a trip back in time. I don´t just go on a holiday, I go back to being 19. And it´s soaring. It´s not about age or accomplishments, it´s just that beginning, the promise of something bigger, I always wonder when I decided I got there. Don´t get me wrong, I´m pretty happy. The only thing I want is a baby and a picket fence, otherwise I´m good. I have it all. Just not the promise. I´m not 19 any more and the promise is gone. And I don´t know how to go home and not look for the time that passed…

Eclectic London home

Wow! What a bold and colorful home! I love the art and the modern elements like the bike in the living room, although I´d never allow it in my own home!;-) And I could only dream of a purple couch, since my husband believes our home suffers from too much woman touch already. Notice the vintage mirrors in the hallway, they play so well with the staircase. On the whole, the decor harmonizes with the house´s architecture. The best place must nevertheless be the large and airy kitchen with direct access to the terrace. And I would´t mind their bedroom, either. Just lovely!

My big fluffy baby

There´s nothing like a child of your own, they say, and I don’t think I could argue with that. I´ve been hoping for a child for 10 years now and it might happen soon, but I don´t take it for granted. However, the pets in my life have always been very important.  They have given me a sense of home and of belonging, but also the chance to feel care and responsibility for someone else than myself. My biggest love for the time being is Sam, our amazing samoyed. Here are some new pictures with my cute little darling. Isn´t he adorable?

East Sussex home

I´ve been searching for three days for a home that suits my taste so I could share it with you. Finally I found this one from 1903, I hope you agree that it´s very chic and fresh. Didn´t like the kids´room, so I left them out, but what do I know, I´m not there yet..;-)
