There are few things I love more than my mother country in summer. The poppy fields, lounging with bubbles in a beer garden, visiting my grandma in the countryside and eating all kinds of fruit straight from the source, coffee breaks with my friends, dinners with my family, the sweet scent of linden and honeysuckle, children playing in the parks, to name a few.

April
April is deceitful, its caprices are those of a spinster. I let her fool me with her rays of sun, I grow expectant, but she changes her mind and decides to turn me a cold shoulder. Oh, how predictable of you, April! I find you such a drag!

Paris is always a good idea (part 2)
Now, I haven´t been to NY or anywhere else outside Europe for that matter, but I´m pretty sure few cities can equal Paris when it comes to celebrating one´s birthday! I turned 34 on Saturday and I had the best anniversary ever! I woke up to jazz music just outside our window (we stayed in Bastille) and my husband had been out and bought me a rose, breakfast and cake. Breakfast in bed with Paris at my feet, that´s pretty much of a gift itself!
We were supposed to go to Clignancourt for the flea market, but the lazy morning and the prospects of a lunch date with some friends made the time too short. I didn´t despair though, there´re lots of markets in Paris and as it turned out, there was one just outside our apartment. 😉 Lots of goodies- antiques, industrial lamps, vintage garments, you name it! Although not exactly cheap, the prices were generally better than in shops, at least in Norway. 😉 We bought an antique bronze statue, with marble and ivory, it´s a beauty!
Ode to Odd Børretzen
This one is for my Scandinavian readers. It´s raining in Paris, I have a bit of a hangover and fall seems to be settling in for good. Besides, we´re leaving to Oslo this evening and leaving Paris always makes me sad. It reminded me of a poem by the late Norwegian singer Odd Børretzen and I thought I´d share it with you. It´s so Norwegian and yet so romantic. I simply adore it. We Romanians are so passionate and dramatic and yet I was taken aback by the simplicity of these words. Basically he says that I don´t mind the rain outside as long as your head is on my pillow.
I love Odd Børretzen. We almost attended his concert 3 years ago in Bergen, but it was halfway finished and I had to go to work early the day after, so we dropped it. A couple of years ago he passed away.
Belgrade
Missed me, yet?! I´ve been away for some time now and I apologize. I´ve been going through a sort of a 30 years´old crisis, working too much, sleeping too little and questioning my priorities. That´s no joke, I tell you! Luckily, all that´s gone now! I´m on a fabulous holiday in Belgrade with my husband, staying at a 5 stars hotel, eating our way through Serbian and international cuisine and discovering whatever this surprising mix of East and West has to offer us. We came here to attend the wedding of some friends of ours, a lovely Serbian-American couple and it was such a show! For now I´ll let the pictures talk for themselves, details when I get back home, on Thursday!

A busy week comes to an end
What do you reckon? It´s Friday again! Or Friday at last! Whichever one suits you!
I for one am very happy it´s nearly weekend and Valentine´s day on top of it, maybe thanks to the glass of wine and the flowers I bought myself, but I´m not so romantic anyway, so I don´t mind.:-) I´m done with translating the silly Work and Work Place Protection brochure, I´m done traveling for a week or so, happy to be at home with man and pets, not needing to check in or check out, catch any planes or any trains. And it´s just where I want to be. We´re celebrating Valentine´s with Sam´s girlfriend and her parents, who live just down the street, dining and wining.
During the course of the weekend I need to finish some boring accountancy stuff, but first and foremost get lazy with the pets, drink lots of coffee, see a friend or two and take many naps. Haha! Just by reading that I realize I sound like a granny, in fact I used to be teased with that at my former work place, just because I like silk scarves and 60s cut. 😉
I hope you have a lovely day, whether you celebrate Valentine´s or not! And now a couple of pictures from my last days´wandering.
