Wish list for spring

I feel spring coming, already fed up with winter and wool sweaters and what better thing to do for welcoming a change of seasons than buying fresh flowers and putting together a wish-list?;-)

For the pretty season I wish for an Isabel Marant coat, pinkish Salvatore Ferragamo ballerinas, Burberry Brit t-shirt, Dolce et Gabanna diva shades and, last but not least, a silk dress and leather bag from Chloe.

Traveling around Romania

We´re organizing a trip to Romania with some friends of ours since I want to show them a glimpse of my mother country and at the same time discover some more of it myself. We´re planning it in May, since it´s her birthday, but also because spring is awesome everywhere, and even more so back home. A week´s time flies fast and we want to make sure we get to see as much as possible, but still enjoy it at a nice pace. We´re hoping to get to see Bucharest, Sinaia, Brasov and Cluj-Napoca. If the latter proves to be too far, we´ll choose Sibiu instead. What do you think? Any suggestions?

Sunny day

What a lovely day! And what better to do with it than go for a stroll with Anette and our dogs? We´re lucky to have many cosy areas around and Kampen is one of them. A former working class neighborhood, its vivid colors are refreshing and its wooden houses- quaint.  Almost free for traffic and boasting with a couple of real time charm coffee shops, it´s the place to go if the sun is shining and you have a couple of hours on your hands. Just have a look for yourselves!

Glorious spring

Yesterday was a marvelous day and the minute I woke up I decided to be happy. Actually, the whole city was set on enjoying the sun, I would later discover.  I started my day with a morning walk with Sam, picked some spring flowers on our way back and had a joyous egg and bacon breakfast with my man.

It´s weekend again

Hi! How are you all doing? In Oslo we´ve been having some nice weather, but today is grey and it´s been raining a little, too. March is bipolar, they say, and I have to agree with that. The problem is that I´m both lazy and capricious.  And the weather doesn´t help, either. I´ve been struggling with what looks like a spring asthenia- low energy and an exaggerated need for sleep- so I´ve done my best to take some extra walks and go hiking in the woods with my Sammy. I don´t know if it helps, yet, but at least when I´m not home, I can´t sleep. hahha! 😉

Today however, I felt like doing everything at once and decided in the end to take Sammy for a city walk to Grunnerløkka, where they “happened” to sell a Ted Baker purse at Fretex, the Salvation Army store. Needless to say it was gorgeous and a bargain, so the walk and the coffee were just a bonus.

This evening me, Vuong and some friends are going to see the Romanian movie “I´m a Communist Biddy” and then have a bite or two. I´ll let you know what I think of it. 🙂

Meanwhile, enjoy some pictures of Sam and his girlfriend, Emi, while I take my long-awaited nap.

Kisses, Alina

Tales of spring and hope

Although it´s still February, we´ve seen the sun a couple of times, it snowed  and the snow melted again, in a few words- I´m in the mood for spring. Thought I´d share with you a couple of pictures of our apartment and our life while waiting for spring. 🙂

Slow motion

Although I have lots to do and an exam coming up, I think I´ll actually take a day off today. I feel a bit unwell and the last working weekends have taken their toll on me. I think I just need to lay on the couch all day and watch one of my favorite series, the Danish-Swedish coproduction- The bridge.

Yesterday was a glorious day with lots of sunshine and bird chirping, so spring seems a  couple of weeks away. I´m happy I´ll get to celebrate the 1st of March in Romania, it´s the day we mark the return of spring. Here are a couple of pictures of a beautiful spring celebration in Corfu, Greece, a couple of years ago. Have a lovely Tuesday!

February

February started with a pang- a whole Saturday of training for the my oral examination in order to become a certified interpreter. We were three Romanian interpreters, two role-players and a certified English interpreter who volunteered to help us. It was really tough and I have to admit I had to swallow my pride a little bit at the end of the session. Everybody has stuff that need working on, but one never likes being reminded of that.

Sunday I was so beat I couldn´t lift a finger. I had to take a nap for a couple hours after waking up because everything was blurry and I was feeling both nauseous and dizzy. I was so exhausted I almost got worried, but today I was ready to resume my normal life course.

I had a day off and although I spent most of it on accountancy, I got to enjoy the rays of sun piercing through our window. And so did our cat. He was so happy observing the birds outside, probably sensing spring in the air, he wouldn´t move for ages, eating some leaves from my favorite plant (that makes him throw up) and warming himself up.

In the afternoon a friend dropped by for coffee and we found ourselves reminiscing about our youth over a biscuit or two. I´m now making mousakka ´cause I need to get rid of all those organic potatoes and eggplants. Meanwhile, I´m sipping some wine and looking forward to Californication. 😉 Have a lovely week!
