Decorate with plants

How are you today? Monday and Tuesday went by like a dream and I thought I should pop by for a couple of words. 😉 I´ve just come home from a walk with Sam and had dinner with V and a friend, my man´s famous homemade pizza- delicious. I need to post the recipe soon! 😉

I´m drinking some tea and have just started on a book in Norwegian- The Hopeful by Nicolai Houm, so funny! Otherwise life is pretty good, aside from the fact that my energy level is on an all time low, so I need to nap like babies. :-/ Thinking of waiting for spring for a couple more weeks and if it doesn´t improve, change my medication. 😉

Meanwhile, thought I should introduce you to some healing plant trends from Pinterest. Anytime I need a small change, I buy a plant. It works for me!  Continue reading

Me-time

It´s Friday again and this week has been glorious. New couch, new String shelf, lots of coffee and dinners with friends and plenty of me-time. 😉 I´ve managed to do my nails (hate it), read a book- The Coffee shop of my Lost Youth by Patrick Mondiano, made some moussaka and gave away a couple of things we don´t need anymore on the internet.

Today I went to work early, just to be sent home again when the defendants failed to show up. Well, well. I have the whole day to myself and I get paid for half of it, too.;-) Cuddling up with Mr. Beo (the cat) and watching some good old Netflix, I reckon.

Have a lovely Friday!

Lazy days

Oh, how I missed these lazy days of July, thought they´d never come! I´m working a couple of hours every day, a little more in between, leaving me plenty of time to nap, read, walk my Sammy and make all those fresh summer dishes that´ll turn my body into a 20 year old´s all over again. 😉 Haha! Not to mention how nice it is to have my husband around, have a walk in the warm summer evening and rediscover the neighborhood we moved to almost 3 years ago.

I usually stay in Norway in July since I adore the summer pace, the possibility to go straight to the beach from work or whatever errands you need to run before Norway shuts down in the general staff holiday. There are sales everywhere and the city is warm with beer and joy, people strip down and wiggle their toes, oh it´s an entirely different town! The weather seems to be getting better and better, so tomorrow we´re going to watch the World Cup in the park, beer and burgers parked in front of us. Saturday we´re off to the beach, if the weather allows and the beach makes both me and Sam besides ourselves with joy.

Today we´re having shrimps mayo and later we´ll probably have a walk to Sørenga and sip some Prosecco on the new marina. Hope your July is just as awesome! xxx, Alina

Salvage the Bones

If you only read one book this summer, make it Jesmyn Ward´s “Salvage the Bones”! What a gripping, heart-breaking novel! I loved it from the very first sentence and didn´t want to go to bed before finding out what happens to the characters. It´s set in the New Orleans area in the wake of the Katrina hurricane and it depicts the life of African American teenage siblings, their poverty ridden days due to their alcoholic father who stills mourns their long-dead mother. It´s a book on friendship, forgiveness and family values. It´s a book on redemption and love. You HAVE TO read it! And have some prosecco while you´re at it!;-)

November week

I was starting to forget the main reason why people love working freelance- being in charge of your own time. I rarely feel this is the case for my part, in my line of work I´m way too busy 90% of the time. Thank God November can be slow! This week has been smooth and good for the soul. I filled my days with a little work, walked with Sam, billed and read. I´m also making healthy comfort food since I´m on a diet. It´s just that I surpassed 60kg and knowing that Christmas is right around the corner and that I´m in my 30s, I thought I´d take matters into my hands before they escalate. Today I thought I should reward myself with a faux chocolate mousse made of avocado, cocoa, bananas, apple juice and olive oil. Blend two avocados, two bananas, 3 tea spoons of cocoa, one tea spoon of olive oil and two tea spoons of apple/orange juice. Bonne appetite!

Weekend

Weekends are holy. I stopped working weekends about a year ago, unless there´s a particular emergency to justify it. Saturdays focus on me and my needs since Vuong often works, but include a longer walk with Sam, our lovely samoyed. Today I invited a couple of friends for pancakes and coffee, otherwise I´m just reading and observing the apartment, can´t wait till the hallway is done, next week, I hope! I´ll be sure to post lots of pictures since our weekend project turned out to last for 2 months. Have a good one!
