Jaffa house

Now this is a unique property! Hundreds of years old house in Old Jaffa, overlooking the Mediterranean Sea, this is more than regular people dare to dream of! This gem of a house was stripped down to the bone to reveal its former beauty and didn´t they do a marvelous job?! I love the respect they showed the house´s frame and how the modern embraces its old ascetic feel. If I ever get to own a holiday home, let it be like this one!

Oslo house

What a charming house! Only half the house is for sale, but I wouldn´t mind ending up here! Tåsen Hageby is a residential area in Oslo where usually people from the academia find a refuge. It´s close enough to the city and just a stone cast away from the woods. You´ll find cute wooden villas with apple gardens and the whole picture. Love it!

Villa Thea

As you know, I´m looking for a house for the near future. For now I want to know what´s out there and I realize we don´t want to do anything at all when we first find the house of our dreams. I stumbled across this lovely home, didn´t love the bathrooms, although they were ok, so I didn´t include them. Love the white walls and floors, the oven and all the charming corners of the house. Take a look and tell me what you think!

At home

Tired again. I make some changes and then I end up right back on the old path- working too much, eating junk or just drinking coffee and then plunging in bed. Today was one of those days again. I was supposed to be home at 3 and take another walk in the woods with Sam and instead I wasn´t home until 8 and too tired to even speak. Don´t get me wrong, nobody´s forcing me to work this much, it´s just that in this game, you´re either in our you´re out. I kind of feel that I have to. And I love my work while I´m doing it, so it´s easy to forget how tired I feel afterwards.

Enough about that. There´s something about fall and the cold sneaking up on us again, I feel so grateful for having a home, a place of my own, a warm and cosy cave to creep into. I never feel so attached to my home and my little family as I do this time of the year. Thought I´d share some pictures of my home and loved ones with you.

Atlanta house

I stumbled across this amazing house designed by Texas-based Barbara Hill in Atlanta. I like its rustic feeling and the fact that it´s kept airy with a few wow-pieces. I would have found it a bit too cold to live in, but would love to stay in a hotel like that.

A lovely Parisian corner

My husband is back from Paris and he was so inspired I felt it was a good choice to stay at home and let him experience the big city on his own. He was lucky to stay in a lovely apartment in Bastille and the owners made him feel so welcome he felt at home at once. I fell in love with  the apartment the moment I saw the first picture! For those of you planning a trip to Paris anytime soon, check out Tanguy´s place on airbnb.com. The owners are New Yorker Tanguy and Parisian Lou and they´ll greet you as if you were their own friend. Their home is warm and cosy and mirrors their extensive travels, a successful mixture of American humor and French refinement. Take a look and see what you think! We´re planning a trip there in spring and guess where we´ll stay?!;-)

Gorgeous house in Oslo

This house blew me away! It´s located in a residential area in Oslo, in the “right part of the town” as they say. I like the way the beams and all the white complements the modern details like the concrete bathroom shelves. I can see myself picking apples from the garden, making an apple pie in the beautiful kitchen and then eating it in front of the fire place. Enjoy!

Love this house!

We´re planning on moving to a house in a couple of years´ time and I´m always checking the market. I found this house today that I thought I should share with you, it´s amazing! Not too polished, so you can do a little bit of change yourself, but the frame is stunning! Check out the stoves! I could move in tomorrow!

Wish list

I´ve bought a yellow basket from Ferm Living and a red one from Muuto, the ones  I was referring to in an earlier feed, I even splurged on a Vipp garbage bin. I´m getting there. Right now I´m focusing on the home environment- I want my house to be tidy, inviting and organized. I want fresh flowers or some sort of greenery and I want things to have a place of storage.  I´ve been making lists ever since I was 16, so I figured why not make a public list? It kind of holds you to it, if you know what I mean. So here are my most wanted things (except for those I already mentioned in earlier entries):

Organizing

I´m not good at organizing things. I grew up with my grandma until I was 13 and she never threw away a thing. I collect everything from books and magazines to jam jars and porcelain cups. My husband put up with it for a few years, but is been urging me for quite some time now to make some changes. Our biggest problem is that we don´t have enough shelves and cupboard place, so things just clutter around. So while I dream of an antique cupboard just for our inherited china, I need to figure out what to do with all the mess around the house. For example we have a dog cage for Sam that´s half the size of our bed. And where do you think it is? Besides our bed, in the bedroom. We also have 40-50 pairs of shoes, many of which are in the hallway, helter skelter. Furthermore, all our books are in a horrible state of chaos, ever since we removed the wall between the kitchen and living and threw away our IKEA library. So here´s what I figure we need:
