Classic Donuts

I finally got around to writing this entry on donuts, I’m behind with everything and I’d nap all day if I could, just like a cat. Spring teased us a couple of days last week, but since then it’s been snowing a bit and now it’s just soggy and foggy- yikes! From my living-room window I can see the pine tree tops in the distance and the snow melting on the balcony- remind me to go outside and hang Sam’s mouse on a hook to dry, or else it’ll be moldy by Monday!

Friendship

The smell of fresh coffee, the neighbor’s drill, the morning fog and Sam curled up like a fox on his door mat on the balcony. Mornings like this make me feel so much alive! It’s Monday again and somehow it only makes it better, because everyone else is working. I have tons of things to do myself, but no pressure when it comes to any particular order. Even Sam doesn’t seem to mind having to wait a bit for his walk. He came in, gave me a peck on the cheek, or rather let me ruffle him a bit, then we had a go at playing ball, meaning I threw it and he fetched it and went outside with it. Game over.

Reflections

This week has been so busy it’s a wonder I’m still alive! Apart from working full days in court, I had Sam to walk in the afternoon and photography courses Tuesday and Thursday after hours. 😉 And if you think that interpreting in court for a whole day is like working in the office from 9-5, think again! People can’t even be bothered to turn on the microphone, they speak without exhaling and they generally lack any sign of professional courtesy. So imagine your head spinning with legal sections and subsections, slightly hungry and fedd up the world and then trying to sit still in class and socialize a bit during the breaks, too. Y-ha! 😉

Good morning, Saturday! 😉 It’s been snowing for a couple of days now, big, wet flakes dancing down, I’ve watched them from the comfort of my home and felt happy that I have a place to call my own

Yesterday I felt like writing, and so I started reminiscing about that one time when my father came home with a huge suitcase and told us to pull down the blinds, before revealing its contents: green bananas! It was the communist era and we hadn’t seen bananas yet, but it was easily understood they were a black market find and consequently something to cherish. 😉 Continue reading

Almost February

This year hit me with a pang! Three weeks in Bergen, at a trial I knew about, but to which I that I hadn’t received any confirmation that I had been appointed. Well, ok, leave everything else, pack your bags, squeeze your fists and hope for the best! Tomorrow is the last day, they say. Phew!IMG_5710.JPG Continue reading

Me

As I was hinting in the other entry, this year might have some exciting things in store for us. But since I’m not yet sure of anything, I can’t share too much. All I can say is that my spirits are sky high and so is my appetite for life. It’s like I’m suddenly drawing energy from a secret place within myself- hello, this is so unfair, I’ve been struggling on a minimum fuel level for the last 10 years now!

Langos

Remember our trip to Budapest in the beginning of December? You don’t?! Then head over to my entry about it. Although I was in a particularly cranky mood and the lack of service got on my nerves like never before, we had some amazing food there! For our first lunch we ordered two big portions of goulash and they came with freshly baked langos. They were so good I promised myself to repeat the deed at home.

Days Towards Something that’s Never Been

My cousin’s New Year’s toast was “Let 2019 be full of things that have never been”. I wish the same for both you and myself. Let there be less heartbreak and sorrow, let there be more joy, let us be kinder, be better, let us dare to be ourselves. And last, but not least, let our dreams come true! ❤ 49484265_10155909500826711_1879174000182034432_n.jpg Continue reading

Gingerbread aka pepperkaker

Happy New Year! 😉 I hope you had a better New Year’s Eve than we did, the fireworks terrified our poor Sammy and we spent most of the evening hiding away from the noise in the bathroom. This being said, I’m sensing that 2019 has great potential and I’m going to make the best of it! ❤49332688_321303368716729_8435881515321131008_n.jpg Continue reading

Mornings

Oh, how I love mornings! Not the rush, but the silence- you know, when you wake up early-ish and there’s not a sound in the world, except for the clock ticking, and the neighborhood is still at peace (and in complete darkness, because it’s Norway!) and you can almost hear your own breath? I love mornings by myself so much I’m constantly afraid of waking up “the rest of the house”, so I’m tiptoeing around, coffee in hand, smiling to myself: “now this is what I call happiness”. IMG_4630 Continue reading
