Day Off

There’s nothing I like more than waking up early on a day off, especially if it’s on a Monday. The promise of a long day, doing what I like instead of what needs to be done is  not really descriptive of today, since I have a couple of translations to take care of and a lunch date, too. Still, I get to drink as much coffee as I want in my dressing gown, a wool blanket on my feet, listening to the rain drops outside.

Chanterelles and Chèvre Pizza

A couple of weeks ago my friend Marion gave me a bag of chanterelles and I was thrilled! I thought to myself- I´ve just had some risotto porcini the other day, already made my yearly chanterelle stew , don’t feel like fussing with the process of pickling, but I have to do something super yummy with them!;-)_MG_9647.jpg  Continue reading

Fall

Summer is over and with it, my traveling adventures, too. Hoping there might be a bit of roaming at work, not too much, though, just enough to steady my wanderlust. Meanwhile, I´m still waiting to get paid, 7 weeks overdue, yes, but hey, the court house clerks receive a pay check every month, so what do they care about freelancers?14064282_10153814319841711_5172772494884880824_n Continue reading

Chanterelle stew

Yesterday I paid a visit to the local organic marked at Stortorvet and couldn´t resist buying some fresh corn, apples and chanterelles. I don´t know about you, but I love me some chanterelles in the fall! Although I´ve only made this stew the last 2-3 years, it´s one of my classics by now! Not only pretty and yummy, but very easy to put together, too. I usually serve it with pan-fried chicken and rice.

Organic weekend

After depriving my body of nutrients as well as good flavours, I felt it was about time I should do something about that. So I managed to use the first window of opportunity to check out the organic marked in Stortorvet. I started doing that last year, enticed by the colours, smells and the jovial chatter the ´farmers´met one with. 2 kg apples, 1 bag of golden chanterelles and 3 corn cobs later, I was heading home with the promises of a real feast.
