Jewelry

I´m not a jewelry person. I have a couple of rings and a few bracelets, a string of pearls and a couple of modern necklaces which I almost never wear. From time to time, though, I feel that jewelry is the one statement piece that can lift a whole outfit.

Marion Vidal! I loved her colorful, eclectic jewels from the first time I saw them in a boutique in Bucharest! I can´t refrain myself from saying that the sales persons in that wanna be high end store were awful- regarding me and my man with a mixture of disdain and awe as in “how dare you come into our shop, you mortals?!” Still, I had to have the necklace- perfect round ceramic pearls, one of the “pièces de resistance” of my wardrobe.

Introducing you to her magic world of eye candy!

Waiting for winter

Fall is here, it´s been raining for a couple of days, both the drizzle and the heavy rain you associate with dark, cold days. Days when you don´t feel like getting out of bed. When only hot chocolate helps. When you start lighting candles again.

I´m back in court and I love it for many reasons, but being able to wear office clothes is the main one. Call me superficial. So if in Oslo, you´ll see me bouncing around and being super busy in my preppy dresses or my androgyne trousers. I love Brooks Brothers shirts, my husband introduced me to them. And I love everything that´s silk or leather. Right now I´m loving Burberry Prorsum´s Pre-Fall Collection.

Monday blues

Today has been a strange day. In a way I was besides myself with joy that nobody needed my services since it´s been raining cats and dogs all day, but on the other hand I had to sort a lot of boring invoices and stuff I never get around to do.

My better half left for Paris for the Première Vision fair and being alone has never been my strongest side. I wanted to go, too, but I have a couple of work appointments which I have to keep in order to make my tax payments. Besides, I think I would have gotten bored at the fair and ended up spending money I don´t have in Galleries Lafayette. Sounds familiar?

Right now I´m in the living room with cat and dog and keep hearing sounds. Fear of loneliness is so strange- instead of being happy to have all this time on my hands, as I usually am when I know he´s just out for a beer, I feel almost scared. How will I fall asleep?

This is so ridiculous that I need to think of something else, so I´ll show you some lovely pictures from the new Max Mara collection.

The meaning of cool

I´ve never been cool. For as long as I can remember I´ve been quite close to being cool, but I never made it all the way. As a little girl, I payed too much attention in class and wouldn´t swap my sandwich with other kids. As a teenager, I wasn´t allowed by my fanatic grandma to be en vogue and had to wear pleated skirts just over the knees. And as a young lady I tried too hard.

I stopped trying some 10 years ago and concluded that cool just doesn´t define me. And I have to admit that it was such a relief! I could stretch after more attainable things: I could try to be feminine, classy, well-dressed, well-read, a good cook, nice, whatever. Just not cool. This change of perspective eased my transition into adulthood. It´s nice to get to know who you really are. It´s ok not to wear Converse. And not to be the festival type. It´s ok to read magazines on a Friday evening instead of going to a concert. And you don´t have to go to parties if that just makes you tired.

Much of the blog world today is a reminder of the wanna-be cool days. I feel many wear the same clothes, promote the same brands and have an identical approach to fashion. I´m glad I´m not there any more. Nothing wrong with the perfect white t-shirt and the punk-inspired boots, but I can´t relate to them at all.

I´m taking you to yet another trip with me in wonderland! Enjoy!

A gasp of fall

It´s official! Fall is here, there´s no doubt any more, the calendar says so. And while I´m making lots of plans about how to get more efficient, find time to work-out and be cultural in the weekends, what I really enjoy doing is reading magazines and dreaming of new accessories. Call me superficial, but I get instant gratification. And this year´s fashion is better than in ages! Actually that´s how I feel every year. I collected some must-haves on my list, don´t think I´ll be able to afford anything for now, but the Celine bag is mine, no matter how long I have to wait!

Too cool for school

Back to school for a course this weekend- multicultural perspectives in interpreting. I´ve studied something similar for a year in 2004, but this is a nice reminder of the fact that ethnicity is constructed and that togetherness is as excluding for some groups as it is including for others. This line of thoughts can never be discussed too thoroughly.

On top of that I get to drink lots of coffee with people I like. And practice standing in a toilet queue and chat, the way we did in ninth grade. Lots of fun.

I even found the time to check out three of my favourite shops and I thought I should share those with you.

Swedish COS stands for stylish clean-cut quality clothes.

La femme d’antan

I discovered Cortana. What a bliss! For those of you who haven´t heard about it, it´s a Spanish high end brand. And their clothes are just fabulous! When I stepped into the shop, I felt like Alice in wonderland. Silk and other delicate fabrics, dreamy colours and a minimalist expression. Unfortunately I was at the end of my shopping budget, but I have hopes that some of you might find something to your liking. And while I´m at it, I´ll show you some of my favourite outfits on Pintrest.
