Classic apple chutney

What to do with so many apples? 😉 I was growing tired of making apple jam, so I remembered the lovely apple chutney I made some years ago. 😉 I hope you feel like trying!13906914_10153774305006711_6722696169116930769_n

Ingredients

1 kg apples, sliced

250 g muscovado sugar

250 g raisings

1-2 medium onions, finely chopped

2 tsp mustard seeds

2 tsp ground ginger

1 tsp salt

400 ml wine or cider vinegar

Combine all the ingredients in a large, heavy saucepan. Bring the mixture to a boil over a medium heat, then simmer uncovered, stirring frequently, for around 2 hours, or until thick and pulpy. Remove from the heat, leave to cool and transfer to sterilised, clean, dry jars and seal.

Yummy! Perfect gift for the picky eater or as go-to gift.

xxx, Alina
