I´ve already shared this recipe with you on my Romanian blog, but since not all of you read Romanian and not all of you follow it, I thought I should post it here, too. 😉
A couple of days ago I picked a bowl of sour cherries straight from the tree and I felt like baking a cake, the type of summer cake that my childhood was filled of.
Ingredients
- 3 eggs
- 2 ½ dl sugar
- 1 tea spoon vanilla sugar
- 2 dl flour
- 100 g butter
- a bowl of sour cherries
Wash the sour cherries and remove the pits. Put a greaseproof sheet at the bottom of the pie form and cut it so that it suits the form. Whip the sugar and the eggs until they look like a meringue. Add the sifted flour and vanilla sugar. Add the melted butter. Pour the cake in the form and put it in the oven for 20 min. at 175 degrees C.
Take out the cake, add the sour cherries and put it back for 30 more min. Check to see if done, then let it cool down for 10 minutes. Serve with coffee and ice-cream! 😉

This cake looks and sounds delicious!
Thank you! It was! Give it a try! 😉
Such a pretty cake!!! I love how the juices are swirled throughout!!!
Thank you! 😉 I thought it was pretty awesome, too! 😉
Very pretty cake! I’m getting more and more into eating fruity cakes, so I’ll have to give this one a try.
Thank you! 😉 I know what you mean, I used to feel they were just “cheap” surrogates for “real” cakes (chocolate cakes or cakes with frosting) during my childhood. I even remember making an ass of myself ’cause mom made plum cake one day. Haha! But the older I get, the more I like to use seasonable produce, preferably picked up by my own hands. 😉 The more it reminds me of my childhood, the more I appreciate it. 😉
Wow looks fabulous, i’m not so good at baking but will give this a go. Sour cherries will forever remind me of Romania x
Oh, it´s so simple, you´ll see! 😉
unde ai gasit visine in oslo ? ☺
Am descoperit pana la urma ca erau cirese, nu visine. Sunt copaci plantati ici si colo, in zone accesibile publicului, in Gamlebyen, de ex., avem vreo 10. 😉
